COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Saisons have been around for ages. Traditionally brewed by Belgian and French farmers to provide refreshment during harvest. I’m guessing that flavour wasn’t a main concern back then; the priority was to provide a beverage that was safe to drink, because water usually wasn’t. Never the less, over time they developed a beverage chrarissed by beer geeks of the modern world. The alcohol content was low, so the workers could consume enough to keep hydrated and still perform their job: To load the barn with enough barley for next years brewing season. I bet these hardworking, humble farmers never imagined, that centuries later, their style of brewing would inspire brewers from all over the world. As all our beers, this is a very modern, you might say new world, interpretation of this style. Based on the tradition we have used a French Saison yeast, which provides a plethora of funky, earthy, very "Belgian" flavours. From there we have upped the ante a fair bit by doubling the amount of malt, and thereby the alcohol, and loaded the kettle with punchy Nelson Sauvin hops. Unlike the original, this is not a beer meant to be drunk by the gallon. Moderation is the key for full enjoyment of all great beers.

Not so much aroma but good taste and very classic pale ale. A bit borring maybe but refreshing.

Cloudy golden straw colored pour. Big white head that does not want to go anywhere. Plenty of lacing as I drink it down. Nice aroma of grapefruit and other citrus goodies. Some old yeast aroma, musty almost. Slight malt note. Taste is typical of most saisons. Musty, earthy, yeasty with some malt and lemon in the back. Not bad.

Poured from a 500ml bottle. A beautiful golden colour with a good inch of solid head. Little lacing. First attempt at this style and impressed with a very interesting nose. Some citrus and sweetness as well as freshly baked brioche and cedar. Bitter with a heavy yeast flavour which dominates the hops, leaves a good mouthfeel and seems to be somewhat true to style from what I gather. Not sure it's my thing, but not discouraged by the experience.

Golden orange pour with a white head. Very earthy aromas, some funky notes. Flavor is very dry and earthy. Funky sharp yeast finish. Definitely not easy to drink. I’m just not a saison guy so take this rating with a grain of salt.

Taster on tap at Ei8ht Ball. Mostly clear golden orange color. Little white head. Couple ropes and dots of lace. Bigger body. Smooth, lightly soft, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Moderate to bigger bitter taste. Minimal sweetness. Good zestiness. Nice mild to moderate yeast profile, some belgian yeast character in the flavor. Light banana, light spice. Solid, hoppy saison. Hint of old, malty hop character, but satisfying bigger hop flavor overall. Not the most complex yeast character, but at least it’s noticeable and contributes something.

Draft to taster. Looks good; a hazy gold with white head that dissipates into lacing. Smells of saison yeast with earthy notes and a bit of a hop presence. Tastes like it smells, only more rubust, and with more hops. Nice and zippy on the tongue. Good beer.

Aroma more hoppy, less funky and a bit sweeter than many saisons. Nelson Sauvin hops come to the fore in the taste with bitter citrus balanced by a nice malt sweetness. Nice full body. I think of this as more of a Belgian IPA than a saison, but it works for me on a hot 41 deg C day. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Strong saison funk in the nose, much more funk when tasting, more bitter than the style usually is, some winey character, but that’s given with the Nelson hops, but of a kick with the 7%. Herbs, soil, dirt, funk. Good saison.

Wheaty pasta aroma, some vinegar as well. Nice looking head, straw coloured pour. I have determined Nelson Sauvin hops are not my cup of tea. Metallic finish.
