Saisons have been around for ages. Traditionally brewed by Belgian and French farmers to provide refreshment during harvest. I’m guessing that flavour wasn’t a main concern back then; the priority was to provide a beverage that was safe to drink, because water usually wasn’t. Never the less, over time they developed a beverage chrarissed by beer geeks of the modern world. The alcohol content was low, so the workers could consume enough to keep hydrated and still perform their job: To load the barn with enough barley for next years brewing season. I bet these hardworking, humble farmers never imagined, that centuries later, their style of brewing would inspire brewers from all over the world. As all our beers, this is a very modern, you might say new world, interpretation of this style. Based on the tradition we have used a French Saison yeast, which provides a plethora of funky, earthy, very "Belgian" flavours. From there we have upped the ante a fair bit by doubling the amount of malt, and thereby the alcohol, and loaded the kettle with punchy Nelson Sauvin hops. Unlike the original, this is not a beer meant to be drunk by the gallon. Moderation is the key for full enjoyment of all great beers.

This is a beer that has a very nice flavor. It is fruity but not too fruity. Would recommended it to a friend

Poured chilled, it’s got a huge massive foamy head with staying power and heavily carbernated golden body, some fog, perfect in every sense in my humble opinion. Nice aroma of lemon rinds, hops, sour cocktails. Flavour is simplistic lemon and malt, good grain flavours. Nice meatiness on the mouth. A great drink to down by the gallon.

I do not wax on poetically about beer but I do know the quality of a beer once tasted. This review is not about my tastes but reinforces the numbers, which are arbitrary.

Bottle. Tall Boys, Leeds. Gold, with a soft haze. Glass filling, pillowy white head. Bready, yeasty malts. Grain husk. Lemon pith. Some white peach, grapey hop. Well balanced, fruity hoppage. Taste is fruity, peachy sweet. Big, tangy hop. Lots of lemon rind. Good body. Long, tangy bitter finish. Comes together really well. 8 Wired good.

Nice grassy nose with lots of different fruit shades (started tightly, with gooseberry/ starfruit, then later just pick a fruit, literally: grapefruit, kiwi, lemon zest, passionfruit and apricot – you could credibly claim loads are present, but none overpoweringly so). Yet this still has a recognisably saison yeast beneath it – some feat. Drying nicely, with more bay leaf/vegetal notes (not unlike a NZ pinot noir – though I know the hop means comparisons are made more often to NZ sauv blanc), but could be drier still given the saison context mehbee? That is nitpicking tho. Really nice beer bridging new world/old world. Lot fruitier than Tuatara’s Sauvinova (sampled alongside this one).

Bottle from Tanakaya. Clearish gold with a finger of white foam that lingers for a bit. Great Belgian yeast nose with fruity esters and spice up front. As it warms the tropical hop show begins with passion fruit, mango and pineapple notes coming on strong with a hint of weed on the palate. Hides the booze well for the style. Nice peppery, juicy finish. Excellent.

Bottle at and thanks to JF, 26/03/16. Hazed golden orange with a big old off White head. Nose is tangerine, spice, apricot, juicy hop pang, light yeast strokes. Taste comprises yeast esters, citric tinged straw, Mandarin, Nelson hop strokes, grassy, herbal light. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent hop loaded saison with a funky kick ... refreshing stuff.

Vom Fass im petition in Perth. Trübes gelbes Bier mit hellem Schaum. Es duftet wie ein tropischer Obstsalat! Mango, Grapefruit. Im Geschmack weniger Frucht mehr Getreide und Hopfen.

7%ABV. Saison. Tapped out gold. 6ºSRM. Nose has some nice sour aromas. Not much in the way of barnyard in the nose. A wild yogurt at most... Mouthfeel is sudsy. Palate cannot hide the alcohol on this one with the naked alcoholic fumes coming to the fore first. Then the pale malt, wheaty flavors of wheat flour, sorghum, and water biscuit. The palate is is pale and sweet. Some unexpected hops in the finish with a vegetal character. At this point, I haven’t had a bunch of 8 Wireds, but I’m certainly paying attention...

A fresh wine like nose with citrus and kiwi fruit, the taste is crisp with good acids and subtle bitterness. Reminds me of drinking a good wine in many ways sans. A great beer and surely must be amazing on tap
