COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Saisons have been around for ages. Traditionally brewed by Belgian and French farmers to provide refreshment during harvest. I’m guessing that flavour wasn’t a main concern back then; the priority was to provide a beverage that was safe to drink, because water usually wasn’t. Never the less, over time they developed a beverage chrarissed by beer geeks of the modern world. The alcohol content was low, so the workers could consume enough to keep hydrated and still perform their job: To load the barn with enough barley for next years brewing season. I bet these hardworking, humble farmers never imagined, that centuries later, their style of brewing would inspire brewers from all over the world. As all our beers, this is a very modern, you might say new world, interpretation of this style. Based on the tradition we have used a French Saison yeast, which provides a plethora of funky, earthy, very "Belgian" flavours. From there we have upped the ante a fair bit by doubling the amount of malt, and thereby the alcohol, and loaded the kettle with punchy Nelson Sauvin hops. Unlike the original, this is not a beer meant to be drunk by the gallon. Moderation is the key for full enjoyment of all great beers.

500 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7%. Deep golden colour, large white head. Lovely aroma of Nelson Sauvin hops, with notes of gooseberries, white grapes and tropical fruits, also a hint of pine. The flavour is medium sweet and very fruity, Nelson Sauvin elements dominate, but the beer is not too bitter. The Belgian / French saison yeast is more subdued. A fine and very drinkable beer!

Bottle 50 cl thanks to Sebastian. Pretty appearance, orange almost clear; head is white, thick and persistent. Aroma is of hay, straw, grapes, citrus, spices (oregano); but more the beer warms, more the Sauvin character survives. Anyway, this is a good interpretation of the saison style: body is highly carbonated (without disturbing the matter), but has really easy drinkability just like the saison. Grain, straw again, citrus, malt, pineapple. It miss the wild and rustic impact typical of the style (said on the "Ron and the beast Ryan" already), but it’s okay since Sauvin doesn’t twist and force the nature of a saison. Anyway, finish is dry and long lasting. Alcohol is 7% but you can’t have any sensation. 8 Wired makes good brews, they could grown more and more. Good work!

500ml bottle. There is a big frothy head of dirty white foam that takes a while to settle. The beer itself is a strong honey amber colour and looks solid in the glass. Big fruity aromas are inviting while the mouthfeel is smooth and a bit mouth puckering. Long on the palate.

Bottle. Light yellow gold pour with white head. Aroma is slightly hoppy, definitely lots of sauvin going on, white wine, light breadiness, yeast. Taste is light, kind of mild, light grain, slightly sweet, earthy hop finish. Palate is well carbed, light-med body. Tasty.

Bottle from Vintage Estate in Boardman, Ohio on our way back from DLD 2012. Served in a Mikasa tulip. Pours a fairly-cloudy orange color with some light copper highlights. Nice foamy off-white head with good retention and some nice sticky lacing on the sides of the glass as it goes down. The nose brings some classic Nelson with a good dose of white grape and all around fruitiness. Yeast has some light spice and nice fruit. Body is light-medium with moderate carbonation and a bit of alcohol along with a smooth bitterness. Quite nice.

Orange, with a big, loose white head. Spicy aroma - oregano, rosemary and basil and fresh bread, plus some cedar. Flavor is Caramel , some big hops, and cedar and floral notes Nice yeasty notes, as well. Definitely more of an "in your face" version of this style.

Bottle shared at my 30:th birthday tasting on May 5 (30 år av Surt). Courtesy of Rlgk. Pours tiny hazy deep golden with a big fluffy and frothy white head that slowly dissipates while leaving some thick lacing on the glass. Smell is sweet, fruity and yeasty with plums, ripe oranges, lemon zest, pineapple, overripe mango and dusty barnyard. Taste is sweet, bitter and tiny metallic with mango, pineapple, passion fruit, very ripe oranges, dry yeast, barnyard, white pepper and cloves. Mouthfeel is slightly dry, round and medium bodied. Finish is dry, bitter and yeasty with white pepper, cloves, pineapple, orange juice and orange zest.

500ml bottle served in a tulip. Poured a bright gold with a couple of fingers of white head. Bottle conditioned. Pine and citrus in the aroma. Light bodied with plenty of carbonation. Fair amount of hop bitterness. Dry. More citrus. On the hoppy side, but in a good way. Very drinkable, but a little pricey.

0,5l bottle. Hazy dark brown color. Medium, thick orangeish head. Hops, grapefruit, peaches in aroma. Grapefruity bitterness, juicy, buttery flavor. Long lasting aftertaste of grapefruit. Although it says 7% I can’t feel any alcohol. Nice brew.

Bottle at Henrik. Has a hazy orange yellow colour with a medium frothy off-white head. Nice aromas of hops, citrus, grass and spices. Sweet flavours of hay, hops, spices and some yeast. Soft mouth feel, and medium to heavy bitterness. An ale with nice and interesting flavours; a beer to remember.
