Considering how much I adore this brewery and specifically Hopwired IPA, this was quite the disappointment. Far too malt driven for the style, in my opinion. Very little hop identity. It certainly didn’t sing NZ like their other beers do.

Bottle, shared with Parksy (and a little for Grippitis too). Cloudy orange, thick lacy off-white head. Big hoppy nose and body, lots of grapefruit, a bit of pine. Honey sweet malts in support. Really big on flavour and bitterness, but in a good way. An enjoyable IIPA.

Top IPA this, deserves the awards it has got. Big grapefruit, with pine and some lovely malt sweetness. Very well balanced and alcohol hidden well.

Love everything about this IPA. Slightly cloudy, orange pour. Fantastic malty, chocolate aroma with similar taste with wonderful hoppy palate. New fave IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottled. Poured red amber with white head. Overpowered astringency cause of the hops. Needs more balance

Papayas and tropical fruits with a lot of resin and sweetness in the aroma. The appearance is average with quite a bit of cloudiness and small head with okay lacing. Lots of woody pine nuts taste up front with a good bitterness that coats the back of the tongue. Sweetness comes through well in the beginning but rich hoppy taste persists throughout this beer. Good and decent drink. A little expensive here in Canada ($14 for 500ml), so might think twice before buying it again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Hazy orange/amber pour with white head. Aroma is passion fruit, sweet malts, other sweet summery fruits. Full bodied. Flavour is initially sweet malts mixed with tropical fruits, and finishing long and bitter. The body is a bit too sweet for me.

In short: A very bitter hops extravaganza. For hopheads. I liked it.
How: Bottle 500ml, consumed one week after purchase, however fresh a New-Zealand beer can be in a Vermont store. Tasted fresh though.
The look: Mostly cloudy dark orange body topped by a small off-white head.
In long: Nose is seriously hoppy with bitter grapefruits, pine-tree and just about everything that screams high alpha acids. Taste probably has some malts, maybe, I suspect so, that what the rumors are saying, but I can’t confirm nor deny these rumors. More seriously there is some honeyed and caramelized cereals, but they are buried by an overload of hops. White grapefruits, acidic and bitter lemons, bitter orange peels, a bit of pine tree in the back, more.... Bitterness is razor-sharp, not really resinous, just a whole lot of alpha acids, and then some more. This is a beer for bitterness lover, the kind of bitterness that makes you make a face like when you bite in a lemon. I liked it but honestly I don’t think this is a well-made beer, this is just an exercise in excess, a guilty pleasure that worked for me. I enjoyed this Superconductor, but in all honesty I don’t really understand superconductivity, science is hard, I understand why most right-wing replublicans prefer to simply ignore it.
