SlackerMads (1410) - Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 4, 2013
UPDATED: DEC 5, 2013 Bottle. Hazy orange with a small off white head. Citrus, biscuit, light caramel, sweet tropical fruits. No alcohol showing and no rough bitterness. Medium body, oily texture, perhaps a bit thin, medium carbonation, medium sweet and bitter. Good balance, quite pleasant to drink, but nothing mindblowing. 20 minutes after finishing this I can still taste the hops, which is nice. I canít make up my mind about this one. Hop driven and pleasant, a bit thin, then again itís nice that itís not too heavy. Would drink again.

A big double IPA, 9% and 90IBUís. A little light on the nose for a double but a lovely pink colour and a serious palate. Well balanced with the malt and hop bitterness, very dry. I highly recommend this beer to anyone wanting to try a beer that is supremely well made in all aspects. The bitterness is lighter than you would think, but I expect thatís because of the big malt bill and not the lack of hops. Maybe could use another dry hop to bring up a bigger nose.

big Seville orange, gooseberry, raspberry and a touch of lime sherbet on the nose. Hazy dark amber with offwhite lacing. Guava appears on warming. Very light bodied for abv. Fruity hops, pithy bitterness, lupulin burn at end. Brutal beast of a DIPA. Perhaps a few too many yeast esters/ rough notes in finish to be truly great.

Draught @ CBC2013. Final CBC rating in my backlog, phew! Pours clear deep reddish golden with a big frothy offwhite head that slowly dissipates while leaving some soapy lacing and trace on the glass. Smell is fruity with crackers, chives, grapefruit juice, pine needles, freshly cut grass, alcohol, mango, pineapple, lemon zest, orange zest, star fruit, passion fruit, leek, resinous wood and soil. Taste is very bitter and slightly malty with crackers, bread, freshly cut grass, pine needles, moist soil, resinous wood, chives, mango, pineapple, star fruit, passionfruit, pink grapefruit juice, lemon zest, orange zest and hints of alcohol. Mouthfeel is slightly dry, tiny boozy, slightly round, slightly astringent and medium bodied. Finish is bitter and tiny fruity with crackers, grass, pineapple, star fruit, pine needles, soil, alcohol, bread, mango, grapefruit rinds, lemon zest, chives and resinous wood. Good but the chives and leek sadly takes over a little too much for my tastes.

A 500 ml bottle from Central City Liquor Store in Surrey. A medium amber color, a bit cloudy, with a moderate whitish head. Sweetly citrus on the nose, and a big clean crisp citrus hop load over the gums. Bitterly good! Just enough malt lurking in the background to provide some balance. A bitter finish, naturally. All good. Yum!

Bottle 50 cl at Gothenburg Beer Festival 2013 (Haket), Sunday, sampled on September 8, 2013. Label marked 8.8%.
Hazy golden color, small white head. Sweet, hoppy, alcohol, herbal scent. Sweet, herbal, bitter taste. Bitter, chili aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel, high bitterness.

Light ambery orange, broken up whiteish head. Big resinous, sappy pine nose, nods down some sweet breadiness. Slight cheesy initial bitterness, bright and strong hop. Furry citrus and tang to the malt middle which makes me suspect someone sneaked a few teaspoons of Colmans into the secondary. Mouth-feel is a rinseable oiliness throughout. Flat brandy citrus on the finish, leaving too much to lift for the linger.
Weighed down a little too much for me, especially after the straight Hop Wired juiciness. Shame.

Bottle, Cornelius

from Erzbierschof - cloudy copper-orange beer with a little persistent foam; hoppy aroma of tea, caramel and flowers, some hints of quince too; full-bodied and quite sticky, assertive, very tasty and highly bitter, very long hoppy finish showing fruity and piney tones with more tea and caramel as well- a hop bomb
