04.05.2012. 0,5l Bottle. Vinmonopolet Bergen - Valkendorfsgate. Dark brown colour with tan off-white head. Strong malty aroma with lots of dark malts and sweetness. Very nice malty flavours. Dark malts with notes of bitter chocolate and raisins. Medium bitterness with a rather dry bitter finish between all the sweetness. Very good beer!!

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Vika enjoyed at home
Pours dark brown with a big nice tanned head. Smells of spice, yeast, roasted malts, dark fruits and plenty of caramel. Taste is very malty, heavy sweetness, some disturbing malt bitterness that makes a sharp short break in the body. Also some dark fruits and alcohol. Full bodied, oily feel. Only thing that mess up a high palate score is that early malt bitterness. Finish has some nice hops and medium bitterness. Totally a well crafted beer but it lacks somehow the overall balance i want in a big quad

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Reddish medium brown with a small head, little retention or lace. Aromas of dark fruit, burnt brown sugar, banana and yeast. Ripe dark fruit tartness and candy sugar sweetness lead the flavor profile, with yeast funk, alcohol warmth and hints of hop bitterness. Medium body, sticky mouthfeel, minimal carbonation and a candy sweet finish. A bit of a disappointment for the style.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
500ml bottle. Dark reddish amber to brown colour with small quickly fading off-white head. Aroma has dried dark fruit, dark berries, raisin, caramel, some alcohol. Taste is sweet, dark fruity, slightly alcoholic. I miss notes referable to the funky yeast. Lacks complexity overall I suspect the candy sugar is accountable for.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
My rating #2400! This was supposed to be something VERY special but i wanted to share with my two daughters so it’ll have to wait. 16.9 oz bottle. Chestnut brown with clear edges and a ring of bubbles. Nose is caramel, dates, cinnamon and brandy. Body a bit on the heavy side for a quad, lightened by zesty carb. Taste is honey, graham crackers, fig and citrus peel. Finishes bitter and earthy.
