The beer you hold in your hands is the result of years of practise and refinement. I have brewed it every year since I started homebrewing, and it was one of the first beers I ever brewed. In fact before the mere thought of 8 Wired was conceived. I always knew that one day I would brew this beer commercially. Every year the Sultan has been different, but it is always Belgian inspired, of course with a large dose of sultanas. This bottle contains the fifth version of the Sultan. I finally decided to base it on a Belgian style Quadrupel. The sultanas are more present than before, and it is brewed with a hefty dose of pilsner malt, Belgian specialty malts, dark candy sugar and a funky yeast strain. Experience and enjoy it now, or mature it for years to come. I can’t personally guarantee it, but I bet that it will get better with time. Soren Eriksen Brewer

Reddish brown color with a very thin lacing of white head. Aroma is a little fruity. Flavor is intense dark fruit, some raisins and prunes. A little bready and tartly sweet. Not bad, but not great for a Quad.

Bottle at home from notes. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet malts, caramel, toffee, dark fruits, plums, figs, some alcohol to the flavor, warming, not much Belgian character, just ok.

Voluminöser, weich süßlicher Malzantrunk. Steigende, hefig angehauchte Würzigkeit. Die Süße steigt, bleibt aber auf angenehmem Level. Minimale Oxidation. Gut! 11/12/12/12/13/12

Bomber shared at a tasting. Almost two years old and this hold up quite well. Classic Quad flavors. Really easy drinking and well done for the style. Solid offering.

500ml bottle (thanks FatPhil). Clear deep ruby red color. Medium size, yellowish head, stays. Sweet, malty, cherry, woody, raisins, port wine in aroma. Sweet, woody, berries, delicate hops, raisins in taste. Sweet port wine and tingly bitter hops in aftertaste. Complex yet very drinkable. Alcohol is quite well hidden. Fantastic brew!

500ml bottle (BierKompass.de)
Set down for a couple of years as the reviews implied it would be too sweet, sticky, and hot young. Pours a lovely mahogany, with a spongy beige head. Lovely raisiny sweet aroma, dark fruits also include prunes, a bit of an oxidised aspect to the sweet caramel, but I do like that. Full palate, sweet, quite smooth, but not sticky. Pleasant carbonation even though it opened without so much as a pfft. Beautiful toasted caramel, raisins burnt onto the side of of a cake tin - beautiful. Feels potent, but not hot. Sugars cover the alcohol. Finish does have a slightly dry papery hoppy bitterness, which sweetens and becomes nuttier then nut-paper-ier, then even woodier. Yet again, 8 Wired nail it. Bloody great. As this isn’t hot, I wonder how it would have been with fewer months/years on it?

Bottle at a BOSS meeting. Aged for about 2 years from date of purchase. Pours a dark amber with two fingers of off white foam. Aroma is lots of figs and plums. Somewhat bitter, more than I was expecting. Flavor is dark fruits, malt, raisins, really nice overall. Bitterness is good. Very nice beer. Better than I expected.

Not the best quad I've ever had. Poured with a very small cream colored head no lace and a hazy brownish amber color. Aroma is canned prunes raisins dates figs dark malt. Flavor is like aroma plus some carbonic tang And yeasty bitterness. Body is okay. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Bronze with a small head. Fruity and powerful yet very easy to drink. Lingering taste of alcohol. Awesome.
