Like tackling the Knockmeal Downs Mountains in a blizzard, this beer is not for wimps. This robust malt-driven ale balances dark malts with some old world bitter hops. It won’t weigh you down like a stout and offers a rich chocolate aroma with a burst of espresso. Perfect for a cooler evening: year round in Ireland.

330ml bottle pours almost black in color with a finger of off-white head that leaves some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is chocolate with some hints of roasted grains and coffee. Taste is a chocolate malty sweetness with a light roasted grain bitterness. A tasty and easy drinking porter that I recommend others to try.

Shared a 33cl bottle from Auchan (Luxembourg). Pours a dark brown with a small tan lacing. Aroma is coffee, roasted and malty. Average carbonation and medium body. Taste is a shot of bitterness with some smoked notes and a very long dry finish. Overall, a very drinkable beer. I am surprised.

330ml bottle from a friend. Pours nearly black, with a big brown head that gradually dissipates. Aroma is lovely and rich, with lots of chocolate, cream, coffee and molasses. Medium chocolatey sweetness with a light burnt cocoa bitterness. Smooth and sweet finish, nice soft carbonation. Lovely, lovely drop of porter.
