COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like tackling the Knockmeal Downs Mountains in a blizzard, this beer is not for wimps. This robust malt-driven ale balances dark malts with some old world bitter hops. It won’t weigh you down like a stout and offers a rich chocolate aroma with a burst of espresso. Perfect for a cooler evening: year round in Ireland.

Dark cola like pour with a medium tan head. Aroma: roasted malt, hops, coffee, peat. Initially bitter, sweetens as it warms. You can pick up the coffee and chocolate. Smooth and light on the palate. Not bad at all.

Bottle [330ml] shared with garthicus & HogTownHarry -- c/o garthicus. Pours a very dark brown with an average size fizzy light-brown head. Aroma of sweet roasted malt, some light coffee and leafy hops. Flavour of light roasted malt, coffee, light leafy hops and a light roasty/bitter finish. Average bodied -- a bit thin but it is a Porter. Not a bad Porter at all.

Bottle. Appearance: Cola black with a thick off white/brown head. Aroma: Espresso, dark chocolate, chicory, a little creamy, smells good. Flavour: Good maltiness, espresso, dark chocolate, light mouth feel which is fine for a porter. Good chocolate finish, not bad at all.

330ml bottle share by garthicus with me and blankboy. Nearly opaque brown-black with a huge lasting fluffy/creamy lasting light brown head. Light aroma, good bit of moderate nutty/coffee roast, some cream and mint (power of suggestion) - dry, a little bit of clay? Taste follows, a bit acidic and oily. Slick, average body, light carbonation, a slightly tart oily aftertaste. Decent stuff.

Bottle courtesy of ACD cheers Alex! Pours dark cola w/ lasting off-white head. Aroma is deep roast w/ some nutty toast. Fairly light porter and dry porter w/ minimal malt sweetness throughout. Tons of tobacco, glad I got to try this one!

Jet black appearance. Coffee, roasted malt and camp fire nose. Taste of coffee and earthy, savoury almost meaty notes. Good beer all around.

33cl bottle. Pours jet black with big frothy tan-brown head - plenty of lacing. Coffee, chocolate, smoke and plenty of roasted malt on the nose. Taste is full of roasted toasted malt, coffee, liquorice, burnt sugar, chocolate malt. Very full mouthfeel - maybe slightly too carbonated though. The best of the 8 degrees brews by a long shot.
