COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like tackling the Knockmeal Downs Mountains in a blizzard, this beer is not for wimps. This robust malt-driven ale balances dark malts with some old world bitter hops. It won’t weigh you down like a stout and offers a rich chocolate aroma with a burst of espresso. Perfect for a cooler evening: year round in Ireland.

Bottled. A hazy dark brown beer with a dark brown head. The aroma has notes of chocolate and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of straw, malt, caramel, and chocolate, leading to a dry chocolate finish.

Bottle. It pours an unclear, dark brown body under a dense, finger-thick, dark beige head leaving lacings. The aroma has coffee, roasted malts, and a touch of bonfire. The flavor is slighlty more interesting, although the same things are found. Some bitterness too, both initially and in the end. Full to medium body, smooth carbonated. A decent one indeed, but a bit too one dimensional for my likings. 120218

Black with a very large but quickly dissipating foamy beige head. Pleasant aroma of sweet chocolate. The flavour is similarly sweet with a faint trace of coffee bitterness. The hop character is limited to a faint lingering grassy dryness which isn’t very pleasing. Otherwise it’s a pretty decent beer.
