COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like an Irishman on holiday in the Canaries, this beer has a red tint but with a chilled out mellow feel. A traditional Irish style with a twist. It has subtle caramel notes balanced with a pleasant fragrant aroma from New Zealand and Australian hops. Goes really well with roast beef, lamb or a traditional Irish stew, but beware: keep out of direct sunlight.

Keg pint. Dark ruby red colour with no real head to talk about - looks a bit watery. Aroma is of delicate floral hops, slightly sweet orange, sugary malt - very subtle and pleasant. Taste is of caramel malt, slight citrus (not imparting much bitterness though), fairly exotic floral notes too. Reasonably dry finish and very refreshing. One of the best true Irish reds out there.

Hand pulled at the Anchor, Birmingham. Flat looking amber. Pleasantly fruity with apple, grape and blood orange. Quite good really.

Cask conditioned at The Anchor, Birmingham. Chestnut with white head. Typical of an Irish red ale, this had a rich maltiness then a pronounced peaty, smoky note. Quite bitter and dry really. Rich on the palate and realy quite good.

330ml bottle. Pours a hazy, medium tawny, slightly dull, with an off-white head. Hoppy, roasted, sour aromas, caramel, nuts, light chocolate. Off-dry, medium bodied, medium bitterness, balanced CO2. The taste is quite robust and grainy, roasted malts, chocolate, hops, caramel, and a light sour note. Like a decent homebrew. (2012-03-01)

Bottle. A creamy, off-white head forms over a amber colored body filled with micro floaties. Some lacings. Lighlty spiced aroma with caramel maltyness and some licorice hints. It’s smooth on the palate, with some licorice and spices, caramel maltyness and a touch of dried fruits. A bit sweet maybe, but it suits the beer. A nice one indeed, unusual, but very tasteful. 111105
