COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
10’000 years in the making, the LPA marks the return home for beer. From the land where beer and human civilisation were born, comes a new brew that is a marriage between Western brewing tradition, Eastern complexities, and a sublime expression of the Lebanese Renaissance. It was inspired straight from the Lebanese spice markets. For decades there has been little choice in the diversity of Lebanese beers. This beer provides an alternative for the Lebanese population, with ingredients such as za’atar, sumac, mint, sage, anise, and chamomile. The use of such herbs and spices makes this distinctive craft brew truly Lebanese.

Draft. Hazy golden brown color, large tan head. Aroma of peppery caramel and thyme. Taste is mildly bitter black pepper.

Bottle. Brewed 01/02/12, best before 31/01/13, consumed 05/02/13 - so not as fresh as it could be, but no glaring signs of age or degradation. It also has an LCBO label indicating that it’s 11.1% despite the fact that the brewery quotes it as 6.3%, so I don’t really know what’s going on there. Whatever the case - it pours a nice honey-copper colour with a small white head. Aroma is... odd. Someone in an earlier review says it reminds them of "Lebanese bread", and I can see where that comes from - with the malt base and the za’atar and other spices, there’s a definite similarity to the aroma that wafts out of the manakish (Lebanese pizza) restaurant near my office. In the flavour, there’s a bit more fruitiness, and the spices take on a more herbal tea quality, with a moderately astringent finish. Really interesting stuff - I’m not quite sure that I LIKED it, but I’m glad I tried it.

Bottle. Clear orange with a small lasting white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is a jungle of spices with timian, oregano, camomile being some of them. Light pale malt, but overpowered by the spices. Taste is medium bitter and medium sweet. Light body, watery texture, average carbonation. Watery and spicy finish. Watery and thin bodied, but different and could be interesting to pair with some food.

Bottle. Pours clear orange with lacing off white minimal head. Aroma is very spicy, oregano, thyme, chamomile, pale malt, nut, some other pizza spices too, bread and faint garlic. Taste is light+ sweet and light+ bitter. Light body, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. Finishes spicy and herbal hoppy. The spices steals the spotlight.

Looks great, golden syrup with a thick, frothy white head. Aroma is cream fudge with lime. Very promising. Timian is the first flavour that hits the palate, followed by a grapefruit bitterness. The sweetness from the aroma lingers in the background. A very interesting pale ale, good buy :) ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours deep amber with a large head. Smells like lebanese bread, with a massive thyme hit. There’s a little sweet malt underneath but lebanese bread is the perfect descriptor here. Flavours follow along the same line but the herbs also add some astringency and medicinal notes. A metallic character works its way in too. Nice idea, and the aroma is great but it doesn’t quite work. Perhaps if the base beer was maltier.

0.33 L bottle ordered from Vinmonopolet Nettbutikk. Dark gold colored body. Fully diminishing white top. Modest aroma. Some sweetish pale malts and a scent of something herbal leafy "green". MId-bodied. Edgy on the palate. Initial flavor is light soapy and harsh. Tea leaves, and indian curry-like spices. Restrained malt body. Strangly spiced ending. Ok, its from Libanon. Tick!

Orange color, clear with no head. Aroma of thyme, spearmint, herbs. Taste is a bit watery, sour and not good. Light body , flat carbonation, a bit oily texture. Interesting but too expensive for the quality.
