10’000 years in the making, the LPA marks the return home for beer. From the land where beer and human civilisation were born, comes a new brew that is a marriage between Western brewing tradition, Eastern complexities, and a sublime expression of the Lebanese Renaissance. It was inspired straight from the Lebanese spice markets. For decades there has been little choice in the diversity of Lebanese beers. This beer provides an alternative for the Lebanese population, with ingredients such as za’atar, sumac, mint, sage, anise, and chamomile. The use of such herbs and spices makes this distinctive craft brew truly Lebanese.

Clean gold with small head in glass. Strange nose. Sun dried tomatoes sun chips, mint. Lots of red vegetables. Taste is ... interesting. A middle east potpourri of herbs. A small malt backbone reminds that, yes, this is beer. More vegetables. Strange. People like this?

UPDATED: JAN 6, 2015 Cereal with some light breadiness, a bit grass undertones from hops, first beer from this brewery with a slight bitterness. Not a lot of flavour but a bit refreshing aftertaste and some floral presence, best from this brewery yet atleast...

Nice lacing, medium caramel color. The thyme and sumac dominant the aroma, crisp bite. Would go great with Eastern Mediterranean foods, but not my choice to enjoy by itself.

this one grew on me after about half way through. It has a very strange aroma and taste with all kinds of spices mixing together. Wish I had more than one to get a better handle on it.

Hops and Props Fest. Smells like tea, chamomile, spices. Clear amber, white head. The flavor is spicy, tea like, spicy. The finish is spices, chamomile, anise, mint. A cool variation on the pale ale.

Bottle. All the spices listed in the description are prominent in the smell and taste. The pale ale part is pretty decent too. Wish I was drinking this while eating Lebanese food

Location: Bottle at HopsScotch, 1/17/14

Aroma: The nose has some citrus hops with a good amount of spice/pepper
Appearance: It pours a clear amber color with a small, off-white head on it
Flavor: The taste is much the same, clean, with a nice mix of spice and citrus flavors
Palate: The body is medium, leaning a little light, with average carbonation, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a pretty nice beer actually. I’m surprised it has such a low overall rating. I would definitely call this underrated overall.

Very distinctive and lightly spicy, so I had to investigate. 961 says "with ingredients such as za’atar, sumac, mint, sage, anise, and chamomile. The use of such herbs and spices makes this distinctive craft brew truly Lebanese." The aroma is mild-moderate in strength with a complex spice blend with herbal and floral notes. Spicy, mildly bitter flavor. Again, complex and interesting. Mixed spices linger on and on afterwards. Might be better with a bit less spicing. Feel: medium body and near medium carbonation. A very interesting and distinctive brew dominated by za’atar.
