10’000 years in the making, the LPA marks the return home for beer. From the land where beer and human civilisation were born, comes a new brew that is a marriage between Western brewing tradition, Eastern complexities, and a sublime expression of the Lebanese Renaissance. It was inspired straight from the Lebanese spice markets. For decades there has been little choice in the diversity of Lebanese beers. This beer provides an alternative for the Lebanese population, with ingredients such as za’atar, sumac, mint, sage, anise, and chamomile. The use of such herbs and spices makes this distinctive craft brew truly Lebanese.

Bottle. All the spices listed in the description are prominent in the smell and taste. The pale ale part is pretty decent too. Wish I was drinking this while eating Lebanese food

Aroma: The nose has some citrus hops with a good amount of spice/pepper
Appearance: It pours a clear amber color with a small, off-white head on it
Flavor: The taste is much the same, clean, with a nice mix of spice and citrus flavors
Palate: The body is medium, leaning a little light, with average carbonation, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a pretty nice beer actually. I’m surprised it has such a low overall rating. I would definitely call this underrated overall.

Very distinctive and lightly spicy, so I had to investigate. 961 says "with ingredients such as za’atar, sumac, mint, sage, anise, and chamomile. The use of such herbs and spices makes this distinctive craft brew truly Lebanese." The aroma is mild-moderate in strength with a complex spice blend with herbal and floral notes. Spicy, mildly bitter flavor. Again, complex and interesting. Mixed spices linger on and on afterwards. Might be better with a bit less spicing. Feel: medium body and near medium carbonation. A very interesting and distinctive brew dominated by za’atar.

Remarkable aroma of thyme. Overrules others aromas, not much else to smell Pours light amber with small white head. Very small head is lasting. Moderate bitterness. I find it hard to taste because of the thyme aroma. A very interesting beer, great for stews and seasoned meats.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein bernsteinfarbenes Bier mit geringer Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr würzig nach Thymian, Oregano. Geschmack bitter würzig, dabei stechen die Gewürze stark heraus.

2oz sample at International Great Beer Expo (Meadowlands). Guy at the stand (who reminded me of Oori from You cant mess with the Zohan) told me to get ready to have my mind blown. Wow was he right! This was one of the strangest and worst beers of the night!!! Poured a hazy golden color with a foamy white head. Aroma of strange herbs and grain. Yuk. Taste was just as bad. Pale malt, light herbs and spices. Gross!

Bottle at International Great Beer Expo (Meadowlands). Pours yellow with off-white foamy head, thyme and sumac aroima, low carbonation, a lot of spices to taste including sumac and thyme, longish finish. A veruy interesting beer, one of the most original ones I’ve tasted.

Bottle. Pours gold with a fluffy off white head. Aroma and taste are both dominated by a lot of tough to pin down spices. Lots of cardamom. Medium fizzy palate. Interesting.

Brave and interesting. For the first few gulps I loved the impressively strong taste of thyme but then the novelty faded and I would have preferred the beer without it. Other than the spices the beer is smooth with a slightly sweet malt and delicate hops. Interesting. Worth a try. But probably not one I’ll come back to.
