COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
10’000 years in the making, the LPA marks the return home for beer. From the land where beer and human civilisation were born, comes a new brew that is a marriage between Western brewing tradition, Eastern complexities, and a sublime expression of the Lebanese Renaissance. It was inspired straight from the Lebanese spice markets. For decades there has been little choice in the diversity of Lebanese beers. This beer provides an alternative for the Lebanese population, with ingredients such as za’atar, sumac, mint, sage, anise, and chamomile. The use of such herbs and spices makes this distinctive craft brew truly Lebanese.

This is equal parts good and weird. Sometimes you get a beer that is bad and weird (Dogfish Midas Touch I’m looking in your direction), but this one is good and weird. Says it has thyme, sumac, camomile, sage, anise and mint... kinda reminds us of those rosemary flavoured chips you can buy in some places. Fun to try, but not something I’d regularly drink.

Deep golden, brown color, good off-white head. Strong herbal aroma, wood (pencil), berries in the nose. Light to medium bodied. Lots of herbs (oregano, tarragon etc) in the flavor. Some fruity hoppyness. Too much spices to be enjoyable.

Bottle from Barracuda Beach Resort. I was initially very sceptical and started judging the book on its cover. Pours like a standard pale ale, but with lots of spice aromas, sage, basil, even cardamon and some faint citrus. Backed up with a light bitterness and only mild fizz, with a briefly lingering finish. Not everybodys taste, but hats off to a unique brew.

Pours a clear orange colour with a white head. Aroma is malt, caramel, toastiness and spices. Taste is light to medium sweet leading to a spicy finish. Not bad.

330 ml bottle sampled @ Cardinal. Unclear golden body with a white head. Strange and complex aroma, mainly from not so frequented used spices in beer brewing, oregano is very easy recognized. Flavor is rather light malty with focus on the spices, again oregano is obvious. Maybe oregano not to be the strongest aroma, but for me the one easiest to detect. Medium body and aftertaste with the same spices as the rest. Totally drinkable and fun to taste, but more like an experiment maybe.

From a 33 cl bottle served at Lebanese Taverna. Pours a clear copper with an off white head. Pumpkin pie spice aroma. Flavors of spices. Smooth malty mouthfeel.

A hazed amber ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, light caramel malt with light grassy herbs, faint sumac. In mouth, a good caramel malt followed immediately by zaatar bread, lemon sumac, a bit thin but enjoyable.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run. Pours a clear oddly red-orangish amber color with a thin fizzy white head. Fair head retention. Aroma of herbal notes, heavy spice definitely reminiscent of Middle Eastern cuisine. Sage, basil. Some earthy notes. Interesting. The taste is similar... heavy spice, earthy notes, pale malts. Medium bodied, quite interesting. May not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I like it!
