COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
10’000 years in the making, the LPA marks the return home for beer. From the land where beer and human civilisation were born, comes a new brew that is a marriage between Western brewing tradition, Eastern complexities, and a sublime expression of the Lebanese Renaissance. It was inspired straight from the Lebanese spice markets. For decades there has been little choice in the diversity of Lebanese beers. This beer provides an alternative for the Lebanese population, with ingredients such as za’atar, sumac, mint, sage, anise, and chamomile. The use of such herbs and spices makes this distinctive craft brew truly Lebanese.

12oz bottle in a shaker. Pours amber with an off-white head. Aroma of light hops, spices, and pale and caramel malts. Flavor the same, with the spices not really adding to this beer. Average texture. Interesting but not the best.

Bottle at Babajan, April 2013. (my first one from Lebanon) Clear amber with a small head. Aroma of oregano, herbs, toffee, some honey, malt and cardboard. About the same in the weak taste. The finish was on the sweet side. Unbalanced and odd.

Flavor and Palate : Mid bodied. Hop accents with Middle East spices. Interesting. It would go great with pizza.

Bottle, 33cl - Clear amber beer with a non existant head. Aroma is spicy with notes of honey, camomille, oriental spices and caramel. Flavor is spicy with notes of oriental spices, earthy hops, bread and nuts. Not a good beer but definitely interesting. One or two too many spices to really pick out anything in the flavor.

The description is spot on. If you enjoy the anise and other herbs and spices, this may be for you. I was not a big fan.

A rather interesting beer for sure, but not something I would market as a pale ale styled beer. Smells a lot like pizza, and tastes like a meal in a way. Loaded with a very generous amount of savory herbs and spices, with notes of thyme, sage, and bitterness due to hops. A well crafted beer, but certainly not for everyone.

Leighton (11674) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 27, 2013
Bottle in NYC. Pours clear gold with a small, foamy head. Lots of herbs in the nose, like basil and thyme. Light sweet flavor, some spruce, further, herbs, hints of cool mint. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation, light sweet finish, further wacky herbs, light bitterness. Interesting but doesn’t completely work.
