Thin bodied, metallic flavors but nice cocoa and peat flavors, it isn’t too bad.

33cl bottle. Small beige head that mostly dissipates atop cola-black body. Aroma is moderately sweet, milk chocolate, caramel, light roast. Taste is moderately sweet, cocoa/caramel, some roast, earthy. Light-medium body, some stickiness.

Bottle from Total Wine Sterling. Pours black with very little head. Has a bit of floral on the tongue. Mouthfeel is a bit thin. Has a little bit of roasted malt on the tongue. Blah!

bottle from TWM Sterling - I didn’t know what to expect with this one, but found myself pleasantly surprised. It had a bit of the malty soy sauce thing going, but I quite liked it.

Pours a dark brown with a light creamy/boozy head. Aromas of smoke, light coffee, and fruity hops behind the upfront malts. Flavors of light smoke, light wood, and a slight grassy hop undertone. Watery on the palate, lightly sweet, lightly bitter and leaves a nice medium smoke aftertaste. Not to complex. The smoke stands out the most of all the other elements.

chinchill (579) - South Carolina, USA - MAR 1, 2013
Undated 330ml bottle poured into a snifter. Dark brown color has a nice reddish tone and is topped by a moderate tan head. The head quickly to reduces to a lasting ring. Surprisingly clear hop note in the nose, along with the expected dark roasted malts. Suggestions of old coffee, toasted bread and nuts in the aroma. Both the nose and the initial taste suggest a significant sourness that never materializes. Good sweet/bitter balance. Hints of caramel, raisins, dark toasted bread and coffee, with a clearer coffee note in the mildly bitter aftertaste. The body is a medium-full with a light-moderate carbonation and a smooth, nearly creamy feel. Overall, a decent and enjoyable porter, although the particular combination of English hops and malts was not ideal.

12 oz. single, $2 at Binny’s. I’d think more people would’ve rushed for this one to be able to tick off the heretofore unobtainable Lebanon on their stats. My experience with beers made in both Israel and Palestine have found they didn’t travel well (in a friend’s luggage, anyway). But this has come over much better. A roasty malt smell, maybe more apt for a stout, perhaps. Black body with bubbles clinging to the sides like a cola, pours a thick head that dwindles away. Taste is also a bit more roasty than I expect for a porter, though not a stout. A little sweet, though. Mouthfeel is kind of light and thin. Still, many overseas beers without a lot of abv don’t come over here in this decent of a shape.

Leather nose. Mahogany, headless. Medium body. Rich leather flavor, but surprisingly, no other nuances. Not a typical porter, but by now I have learned that this brewery doesn’t do typical. Unique and delicious.

Bottle. Pours oily black with a very slight tan ring. No lacing. Overall very light carbonation. Aroma of light chocolate and fresh coffee grounds. Taste is sweet vanilla tinged coffee. It really lingers on the tongue. Not cloying at all. Very velvety mouthfeel. Easy drinking. Wish it finished a bit more dry.

4oz pour from bottle at Churchkey. Poured a dark color. Aroma was some roasted and toasted malts. Flavor was pretty rich, enjoyable roasted malts. Enjoyed this one.
