COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
961 Red Ale is our version of the classic English Amber or Red Ale. This beer has a 5.5% ABV, is densely malty and reddish in colour. Smooth, round and full bodied it has an intensely fruity and aromatic flavour. The use of Amarillo hops adds a spicy note to the beer and gives it a slighty sweet and creamy finish.

Pours a cloudy orange colour with an off-white head. Aroma is malt, caramel, nuts, fruit, hops and some spices. Taste is medium sweet leading to a lightly hoppy and spicy finish. Not bad.

330ml bottle bought at Gorgeous Wine & Cigar in Yuen Long.

Clear amber red color with bits of flaky sediments; Very thin head and soapy white foam which last for about 20 seconds; Slight sticky lacing with active carbonation; Aroma of rich ale malt, with orange blossoms, biscuits, molasses, cream, hint of caramel, light spice and hint of grass; Very light sweet taste of light ale malt, with light grapefruit, bread, dry biscuits, very light cloves, very light citrus, and hint of grass; Light body, slick palate; Mouth feel is straight forward ale malt - feels light but quite a mouthful. Some initial flesh of metallic which fades very quickly. Overall pretty clean; Hoppiness - pretty good orange blossom and creamy nose, rather low blow grapefruit, spice and citrus in taste, and really low bitterness for a muted finish; Slighty dry after taste, very easy to mouth.

Comments: The use of Amarillo only succeeds in some pretty good nose, fruity taste and hoppiness is in short supply. Other than that, It’s a typically solid Amber, decent and drinkable through not outstanding.

P.S.: Thanks for the "Pi" song on my 314(.16)th rating! :)

From 330 ml bottle. Pours a clear copper-bronze with a small off-white head. Aromas of caramel, malt, apple and a little citrus. Flavours are similar but with a light spicy note at the end. Quite light-bodied and it finishes a bit short, but pretty good all the same.

Very nice beer, has some spiciness, citrus, decent malt bill. For a beer this well-traveled it is nice.

The 961 red had a nice, malty nose combining honey, toast, caramel and nougat with some mild citrus flavour. There is a pleasant grapefruit taste with masking the lack of malt and short length on the palate. Nevertheless, it’s a refreshing taste which is nice for a Summer evening.

330ml bottle from Archive Beer Boutique. Malty caramel and fresh baked bread aroma. Light copper colour with an even layer of foam. Nutty sweet flavour with a good long finish. Who would have expect a beer from Lebanon to taste so good, well done.

Granola, grain, and caramel aroma. Clear orange, thin head. Flavor is still grainy but with a grassy, leafy cabbage note. A little off, but not in the way (diacetyl) that is so common for this style.

This is a pretty average, but drinkable red. Nothing to write home about. Would be good on a hot day.

Bottle in NYC. Pours clear amber with a fine, frothy white head. Bready stuff with nips of buttery bread, some dough, light piney bitterness. Light bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Light dry piney finish, slight metallic notes, toasty malts, mild dry caramel. So so.
