COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
961 Red Ale is our version of the classic English Amber or Red Ale. This beer has a 5.5% ABV, is densely malty and reddish in colour. Smooth, round and full bodied it has an intensely fruity and aromatic flavour. The use of Amarillo hops adds a spicy note to the beer and gives it a slighty sweet and creamy finish.

Granola, grain, and caramel aroma. Clear orange, thin head. Flavor is still grainy but with a grassy, leafy cabbage note. A little off, but not in the way (diacetyl) that is so common for this style.

This is a pretty average, but drinkable red. Nothing to write home about. Would be good on a hot day.

Bottle in NYC. Pours clear amber with a fine, frothy white head. Bready stuff with nips of buttery bread, some dough, light piney bitterness. Light bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Light dry piney finish, slight metallic notes, toasty malts, mild dry caramel. So so.

4oz pour from bottle. Poured a mostly clear amber color, with a small off-white head. Aroma was some caramel notes, sweet bready malts. Dried fruits, malts. Enjoyable.

Associated Supermarket, Bushwick sixer ($15): Light red color with a white head. Aroma is toffee malt. Taste is crappy. Tastes like an attenuated American amber ale. Slight toffee, barely any hops, not enough body. So meh.

Pours dark amber with a quickly fading head. Nose shows rich sweet darker malt. Bready notes and confectionery-like caramel too. Similar flavours, with nutty, bready malt and some brown sugar. Not bad.

Bottle at Clockworks Dec 8th, 2012 tasting. Pours an amber body. Aroma is plain, muted malt and light fruit. Mouthfeel is light, watery with notes of fruity malt, stale hop and very light spice.
