961 Red Ale is our version of the classic English Amber or Red Ale. This beer has a 5.5% ABV, is densely malty and reddish in colour. Smooth, round and full bodied it has an intensely fruity and aromatic flavour. The use of Amarillo hops adds a spicy note to the beer and gives it a slighty sweet and creamy finish.

Bottle at a tasting at James’s place. Pours a clear amber with a thin white head. Soft malt, crisp and clean, lots of malt, a bit of fruitiness. Medium bodied, a bit more fruit and malt, a bit empty and one dimensional, but not terrible. Moves into a soft bitterness on the finish. Drinkable and decent enough.

Thanks to Bierkrug for getting this one for me. A nice Ale for sure but not really my thing. Still well made and interesting.

UPDATED: OCT 13, 2012 On tap at the Bread Republic in Beirut, Lebanon. Pours a deep amber orange with a fast to go beige head. Aroma is fruity spices and malt. Taste is a smooth intensive malt/spice mix. Palate is a little rough but adds to this beer’s mystic. It is nice to see someone taking on the big boys in the region and winning.

Red amber in color... Flavor is fairly typical for its style, light caramel flavor with slightly yeasty finish.... Pretty good, not the best, but then again, not my favorite style
