COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired from “Belgian Witbier”, 961 Witbier has a 5.3% ABV. The added coriander and orange peel add a sweet and spicy aroma. The light acidity and low bitterness of this unfiltered beer makes it perfect for those who prefer a light and sweet beer. This beer is bottle conditioned and has natural yeast sediment in the bottle.

330 ml bottle at the Bread Republic in Beirut Lebanon. Pours a coudly yellow with a small fast to go head. Aroma is Citrus, grass and wheat. Taste is a watery citrus, wheat and lemon. Palate is nice but there is something lacking in this beer. t is however a great effort again.

330ml bottle bought at High Wine China’s promotional booth at Spot in Sheung Shui. (Thanks Tomy!)

Cloudy, hazy golden yellow with some yeast sediments; Half finger head with soapy white foam which fades in 30 seconds; Very good sticky lacing and zero carbonation; Fragrant aroma of malt, with strong wheat, vanilla and pineapple, (reminiscent of German Weissbier), sugar, strong corinder, orange peel, very light phenolic, light spices, lemon, and faint grass; Very light sweet taste of light malt, with strong wheat, thin tartness, coriander, light citrus peels, strong earth, spice, strong yeast, lemon and very light grass; Light body. Quite slick and crisp palate; Mouth feel is fair malt with strong wheaty presence - smell good, taste okay and not tart at all. Good coriander, very light orange peels and fair spicyness. The yeast – while the aroma is so nice Weissbier-wise, the taste is muddy and close to annoying, almost ruining the beer, almost. Hmmm…. Hoppiness is light lemon and faint grass in nose and taste, Low-fi bitterness for a wheaty finish; Quite dry aftertaste. Very easy but slightly muddy to mouth.

Comments: The Weissbier yeast make and break this Witbier – on one hand the vanilla and tropical fruit aroma is a joy to the nose, but on the other hand it lands some rather unpleasant muddy taste and nearly ruin the clean wheaty taste. Until the brewer sorts it out, until then this is a valiant but failed experiment.

Amarelo palha, pouco espuma, turva. Pouco aromática para o estilo. Pão, pouca laranja. Na boca, nada se destaca. Bem fraca. Zero amarga. Aftertaste doce.

Bottled at SBWF. Clear pale golden, small head. Buttery coriander aroma. Sweet and fruity with light-medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Notes of citrus, butter and caramel, lots of coriander. Not the best offering from 961.

Not anywhere near a witbier. Very malty, oily slick. No head. No aroma. Main reason for trying this was to tick Lebanon off of the list. Weak, sweet and mlty, ugly beer.

Appearance: very light, hazy gold; short white head quickly vanishes. Aroma: light aroma of citrus, hint of coriander and spice. Taste: as the aroma indicates. Finish: quick finish, with slight lingering tart wheat and citrus. Notes: Not great by any means, but not terrible. Palate is light and slightly effervescent.

330 ml bottle. Pours a cloudy, pale yellow with a small, short lived white head. Yeasty aroma with notes of wheat, malt, spice and citrus. Sweet flavour of malt, wheat, citrus, yeast and a light note of spice in the finish. Light to medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation.

Bottle from Archive Beer Boutique July 2013. Hazy when poured into a glass and has a big white head. Spice and some fruit in the aroma and flavour. An easy drinking beer that would be even better on a hot day.
