Commercial Description:
The best barley of all grows on the Magdalen Islands. We harvest the windblown, salt-kissed grains and use them to concoct a malt with a maritime accent that gives our beers their unique character. Come to our microbrewery À l'Abri de la Tempête, relax by the sea shore and dip your lips in a brew as fine as spindrift.

Thanks to M. Alain at the Montreal Bonisoir shop for pointing this out to me. Clean pale yellow; thick frothy head. Light slightly salty aroma. Quite the thirst quenching flavor. Very crisp, very tasty. Lightly hopped but very effective. Slightly salty. Imagine if this could be people’s every day beer of choice instead of Bud Light. Then I could stop making fun of them.

Aroma full of sweet juicy malts, faint hop character in background. Medium bodied lager with rather decent malt set. Long lasting gentle bitter aftertaste. Nice balanced beer . Refreshing and clean.

Golden lager with a good white head.. Faint sulfur notes over an otherwise crisp malt aroma. Good crisp malt with good clean german hops. Salty notes. Rich bodied for a lager. Quite nice.

2005 bottle. Clear, orange-copper-maize like color. One-finger white head rapidly dissipates to cover. Smells of lightly sour lager yeast and rich flavorful barley. Notes of corn and hints of oranges and earth. Flavor is, just ok. I have to say I was expecting more based on the aroma. Great malt, not too dry or too sweet, but gets a little cerealish/acidified on the end. Modest mouthfeel, not over-carbonated, no wateriness. Finishes with biscuits, dry dough/English muffins with a faint whiff of marmalade in the background.

(Rating #349)

Lightly fruity, grainy malt aroma with some herbal hop notes is fresh and appealing. Golden blonde body with excellent clarity is topped by a generous and lasting, dense, fine-bubbled, white head that leaves some patchy lacing. Cereal-like, grainy malt flavour offers up some lightly fruity notes and an soft herbal hop flavour with gentle finishing bitterness. Light body is refreshing with moderate carbonation and crisp texture. While it’s no Corne de Brume, it’s well done for what it is. Lager glass, fridge temp. Bottle (Metro Joanette, Apr. 2005).

341 ml bottle purchased at Metro Joanette in May. Light gold-amber clear body with smallish quick-decaying head...grainy-sweet nose exhibits touches of rosemary and rustic honey, some sharp dry hoppiness...body a bit bready, nice light pale malts working with the moderate hoppiness, fairly sweet towards the back, mellow finish. Quite pleasant.
