COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

probstblueribbon (2918) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 23, 2013
341 ml bottle from Bieropholie, served quite cool in a tulip glass.

App.: Clear golden with very fine floaters and a frail off-white head. Aroma: Pungently sweet, floral, citrusy, fruity, some warming alcohol, hints of bitter herbs and Saison character, solvent?, intense. Palate: Medium+ body, fine, restrained effervescence with some prickly bubbles. Flav.: Much like the nose...quite sweet, intense, solvent is even more present, citrus an floral notes, fruity, stinging alcohol, aggressive; off dry with moderate bitterness and a long, very alcoholic finish.

A little too much of the not good stuff.

341 ml bottle. Pours a very slightly veiled straw with a short lasting white head. Smell is pear and pepper. Flavor is ripe pear, mint, bread, a touch of vanilla, mint and yeast. Finish is a stingy, peppery bitterness. Well balanced. Thick bodied, soft mouthfeel. Very decent brew!

Smells yeasty, some florals. Lots of barrel in aroma. Pours golden with little head, pretty high carbonation. Taste is astringent - too much barrel here, throws beer a bit out of balance. Bottle from Delires du terroir.

Bouteille 341ml.

My Bottom Line :
Bountiful banana esters surf earthy, grassy hops in this bubbly Tripel, laced in alcohol.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-A sheet of foam tops the hazy straw blond (it certainly looks the part).
-The banana esters and alcohol presence are somewhat reminiscent of what Jack Daniels’ can smell like (banana candy doused in hard alcohol).
-Hops also contribute spiciness.
-The dryish mouthfeel accentuates the relative elegance of the flavor profile.

Bottle.

Slightly hazy, very yellow colour. Huge banana bread aroma as well as pepper, spice, and a slightly malted note hidden in those soft belgian yeasty aroma. It has an almost medium bodied flavour to it, belgian esters and banana and sweet syrop note with a leafy bitter finish with a boozy kick. Considering the region, where most belgian beers that I have tried from Quebec, this one is quite different. Very good.

Bottle: Poured a bright golden color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some great lacing. Aroma of peppery yeast notes with balanced sweet malt backbone is great. Taste is a nice mix between some sweet malt notes with singular peppery yeast which is more dominant then I had expected with some great notes of light fruity ester. Body is above average for style with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Well brewed and something I would definitely purchase again if it was available around my place.
