A golden orange ale with a thick off white head. Aroma of fresh mashed grain, rye and yeast. In mouth, a nice crisp malt with coriander, light bananas, green pepper notes, and light solvents/fusel alcohol. Light bodied but good.

Draught. At Vices et Versa. As "À La Fût Double Belge." Clear amber-gold with a small creamy white head. Dusty-dry aroma, almost musty, slightly acidic fruit/malt sweetness, some dry spice, alcohol ... reminded me of dried apples. The taste followed, dry, slightly tart, has more appleseed bitterness to it. Somewhat watery in the body, light, sugary, dry finish - overall it’s odd, but decent.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 blankboy (4288) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 17, 2008
Draught at Vices & Versa. Listed as "À La Fût Double Belge". Pours a clear yellow-orange with an average size diminishing white head. Sweet aroma, a touch sugary along with some fruit and yeast. Flavour’s a little odd to me, not sure why? Must be the coriander. Also some bitterness, sweetness and alcohol. Average bodied. I didn’t much care for this.

Draught (6 oz sample) at Vices et Versa, Montreal. Listed as "À La Fût Double Belge". Aroma of coriander, yeast, and some odd but pleasant fermenting fruit notes. Soft, medium mouthfeel. Flavour is sharp and sweet, with more coriander, and mellow herbal hops in the finish. Not great, but OK.

Pours a hazy orange color with a thin white head. Aroma of strong coriander with yeast. The flavor is about an abusive dose of coriander, I like coriander and all, but this is too much. The body is light with a creamy texture and soft carbonation.

(Rating #1279)

My Bottom Line:
Shouting coriander leaves and spicy Belgian yeast lead to a harsh finish where bitterness is the combined effort of coriander and emerging supporting hops. Quirky and citrusy, this Belgian Ale is guilty of being overzealous in its attempt to offer a boatload of flavors.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the murky orange.
-Do not be fooled by its name. This is not your typical Abbey Dubbel; more of a Double Witbier, perhaps?
-The fruitiness is orangey and a little tart.
-The mouthfeel is expansive and well-carved, which is what I expect from a Belgian style.
-Again in this one, the nose is bothered by some dust suggestions.
-Dropping the quantity of coriander by half would probably clean up the flavor profile enough for the taster to notice other flavors. On the other hand, if you love coriander no matter how it’s used, you will probably find this quite drinkable and hugely flavorful.
On tap at the brewpub.
