Commercial Description:

My opinion is that new blonde should its part of prizes this year. As a start, it should be acclaimed as the best rookie of 2007. A fresh Saaz hop taste that may drive you nuts just like absynth. Maybe that’s because it comes from the same country. A clear light blonde beer with a lot of personnality. That lager fulfill it’s promess as it is mostly refreshing. The best beer among the twenty-nine offered at the Vices & Versa in Mtl. Seb, bring me another one please.

(Rating #1273)

On tap at the Brouhaha, bright golden color, with a frothy white head, yeasty bubblegum, flowery hop saaz leafiness, with a hint of grassy spiced hop mintiness, some crisp grainy pale malt aromas follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a very nice spicy floral herbal hop saaz character, with a fresh cut hay accent, underlaying a good cleanliness, of grainy pale malt, leading towards a saaz hoppy leafy, dryness finish. Good interpretation of the bohemian pilsener style from a québec brewery.

My Bottom Line:
This snappy Bohemian Pilsener is gloriously Saaz-y throughout, convincing the style’s aficionados with its spicy flavors and gripping wooden and herbal bitterness. A slick mouthfeel and accompanying cereal sweetness point towards drinkability and an Urquell-esque state of mind.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam skirts the clear golden.
-The nose is not as captivating as the flavor profile, showing some Saaz hops battling with a dusty, mineral character.
-The cereal sweetness is not exactly expressive, offering a little honey and mostly support.
-Carbonation is rather prickly.
-You have to say that brewing this hoppy a Pilsener is a gutsy move for your brewpub’s "house blond". And they really don’t want to take it down a notch! Kudos to them!

On tap at the brewpub and at Vices et Versa.

A golden pils with a thin white head. Fresh grainy malt with light German hops. In mouth, super fresh pils with grainy malt and nice crisp fresh hops. Tasted at Festival des Fromages de Warwick, June 14, 2008.
