Clear, very dark crimson ale with a mid-sized, creamy, beige head. Great retention. The aroma is a sticky-sweet, malty swirl of brown sugar, caramel, dates, light molasses and medium sherry esters. The flavor is sweet and malty. Like the nose there are heaps of gooey caramel, medium sherry and very light smoke with moderate bitterness that actually accentuates the malt by allowing it to thrive, but not fester. Not at all cloying. Whispers of dried plum and light molasses. Ultra full-bodied and syrupy with medium carbonation. Caramel-sweet, cocoa powder-bitter finish. A big SHOUT goes out to beerbuzzmontreal for providing the bottle of this world class Scotch ale! Vac (2389), San Diego, California, USA

It’s slightly sweet and malty with a note of, no, wait for it...turkey and gravey...what? what? what? That was wierd. Medium to full bodied and smooth. Glouglouburp (2815), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 20, 2007 Dark ruby body topped by a small but long-lasting tan head. Perfect example of what a Scotch Ale should be. Avalanche of sweet toasted malts. Thick yet smooth and creamy body. Very flavourful but never aggressive. This is a round beer with a wicked mixture of caramel, toffee, figs, brown sugar. My senses tells me there are other fruity flavours in there but I can’t pinpoint them amid the sweet malts orgy. Just had one with in Quebec Scotch Ale tasting along with the Barikade and the Delivrance. The Corne De Brume stood head and shoulders above the others like a NBA player at a pygmy wedding. marcbé (86), Trois-Rivières, Quebec, Canada

Clear and dark red caramel color, light brown head that fade almost immediately, very soft carbonation. Incredible nose of: rasberry, apple gely, Straberry juce, molasse, earth, grass, honey and seaweed. The great sweetness is well balance by a soft acidity(apple). The burst of flavor led by the fruit gently diminish to leave only a coffee bitterness and a soft cereal finish. Un grand cru...(luckily, I have 5 more in my cellar) NYHarvey (2154), New York, New York, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 16, 2007 Courtesy of HogTownHarry. Thank you, sir. Very concentrated caramel, sweetbread, peat, brown sugar cakes, molasses, raw sugar cane and treacle. The body is a dark red-tinted brown and holds a lasting (incredibly so) tan head that is a thumb thick and when it does yeild leaves almost full coverage lacing. Fore is pumpenickel and treacle followed by lightly smoky peat, chocolate, caramel, malt powder, cocoa, raw tobacco and muted spice. Very wide range of flavors and yet it is still very in front of you flavor wise. Easy sipping and enjoyable on the whole while still having range and nuance. boboski (1095), Alabama, USA

A heady pour of bright magenta with bronze highlights, tan head with white skin sits dutifully atop. Gorgeous! Aroma is amazing: papery seaweed, like sushi wrapping, curry, light smoke(never acrid), vanilla, allspice, and the biggest dose of peat I’ve ever encountered outside an Islay single malt. This kept oozing with layers of complexity, I had yet to even taste it. More in the aroma after the initial peated malt shock, in the way of cinnamon, caramel malt, detergent, roastiness. The flavor was just as incredible, more of the same, but also with notes of molasses and brown sugar. The smoke is looming, booming forth like an out of control wildfire, building in a finale that is both lingering and wonderfully satisfying. Palate was full and lively. Sweetness builds in the recesses of my mouth throughout the lingering finish. An absolute masterpiece, novel and brutish, complex throughout. I’m stunned, and I need more. JMFG (1514), Florida, USA

Poured a dark brown-red color with a thick tan head that lingers. The aroma is so unique that I’m almost wondering if I got a weird bottle. The aroma an intense boggy peat odor. I don’t mean peated malt, I mean wet hunks of peat. It reminded me of a wet kelp/seaweed odor, but in a pleasant way, because there were honey and smoke odors assisting. The mouthfeel was silky and the carbonation is low. The earthiness translates into the flavor, but malt dominates and a smokiness is present also. More please. beastiefan2k (1598), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 14, 2006 Bottle thanks to MartinT, another great hookup. Shared with gotmos and friend. Poured into a small tulip glass. Nice dark brown color with a small head. What I like about this is its really a niovel flavor. I wouldnt call it a Scotch ale but there really is nothing closer. Its got a really nice blend of cocoa, roastiness, and coffee. A very novel blend where the flavors greatly meld together yet are independent of each other. It is rather easy to drink and -feels like it has great aging-ability. The mouthfeel is nice and silky with a low carbonation and a nice thick body. Some moderate bitterness. Very good stuff, thanks again Martin.
