COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bottle. Moderate to heavy cereal and caramel for the malt, light orange and dough for the hops and yeast, with smoke, and hints of bourbon and dried fruits in the background. Head is average size, creamy, off-white with good lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is murky medium amber. Flavor starts lightly to moderately sweet and acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and acidic and has a long bitter aftertaste. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, between oily and creamy, and has a lively carbonationa and a slightly dry finish. The smokiness in this Barley Wine is unique. A very nice, easy drinking beer with a big backbone.

2012. Hazy and has a red/orange colour, laces well enough but has low carbonation. Distinct aroma. There are notes of caramel, brown sugar but it is dominated by this brine aroma and a hint of what i can only describe as christmas candy. Very interesting. On the palate it is rich and sweet but again there is a saltyness to it. This is a sipper and one not to take lightly.

Comes together quite nicely. Some booze, lots of barley malt, floral hops and citrus. Pours clear orange with good lacing and head. Booze pretty well-hidden for alcohol percentage. Finish is pretty bitter. Soft carbonation.

Bottle, ’10 vintage. Clear amber pour with a white head. Caramel malts and barrel aromas. Caramel malts, mild raisins and plums. Big boozy heat. Decent mouthfeel. A bit thin in the body.

Reddish brown out of the bottle with a small tan coloured head. Aroma is sweet malt, candied sugar, and a little alcohol. Flavour is slightly sweet, not too overpowering

Pretty light colored for a barleywine. Light, cloudy amber with no head. Aromas of sweet malt, dark fruit. Pretty sweet, some peat, some fish. They aren’t kidding when they say it may contain traces of smoked herring. It does. Smokey, malty, sweet. Not really my thing. Meh.

12oz, bottled in July of 2011. Clear golden liquid topped by a feable white head. Big smoky nose with some malty notes underneath. Slight oxidized notes detected, taste is drier than expected too. Mouthfeel is liquorous but it has less body than I remember, signs of ageing? Flavors remind of bacon, smoky and salty. Overall a good beer, something that can age well but that is ultimately forgotten.

Bottle. Pours lightly hazy orange with a medium, frothy off-white head, long retention with light lacing. Aroma is pear and apple esters, cookie and light caramel malt, vanilla and oak with spicy alcohol. Flavor is sweet malt dominant, light spicy hops, dark fruity esters, and a sweet finish. Full body and medium carbonation.
