COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Tres bonne biere.

Clear golden blond coloured beer with some very light carbonation and a small white head. Nice light yeasty roasted and special aroma. Full palate. Finish is full malty, almost smokey roasted. Special but balanced. Very nice.

Pours a nice, slightly hazy copper. Small, whitish head, that disappears relatively quickly. Aroma is malty, light smoke, fruity sweetness (mincemeat!), very faint alcohol. Taste is smoky, bittersweet, dark caramel, tawny port, hops resin. Interesting syrup and cream mouthfeel. Faint smoke and bitter finish. Fantastic barley wine that wishes it were a rauchbier. Was not cheap for me to get it, but well worth it.

Pours rusty orange with a quick gone off-white head. Floral aroma with butterscotch and smoke hints. Oily texture combined with a smooth mouthfeel. You don’t taste the 11%. Sadly, in my opinion, they tried to mix too much things in that beer. The Barley-Rauchust could had been a great combination but... I don’t know. Something missing. Maybe too much balanced!...

Bottle brought in directly from the isles by my sister-in-law; clear copper with small white head; aroma-smoke, caramel, very sweet smell, pepper. Something smelling very similar to southern tier’s Gemini that I still can’t identify; taste-medium sweetness, lightly bitter early on that reappears late after swallowing, mild carbonation and warming feel of alcohol. Fantastic beer.

341ml bottle from trade. Pours a dark brown with an ample off white head. Aroma is dominated by burnt leaves, sweet malts, some hops and mild spice. Taste is smoked malt peaty with some dried fruit. A tad sweet and really odd for the style. Alcohol is a little brutish. An okay smokey barleywine.

341 ml bottle from Broue Ha Ha, served cool in a tulip glass.

App.: Clear deep golden-orange with a small white head. Aroma: Complete infection – sour, nasty, organic acids, burnt nuts, minerals, hard to believe that a beer this strong could be infected...bravo, a-holes! Palate: Medium-full body, spunky but somewhat sparse effervescence, syrupy. Flav.: Like concentrated pineapple and passion fruit juices, very fruit, still detect the infection notes, brutal; sweet with fair bitterness and a strangely abrupt, mineral finish with some of the residual tropical fruits.

WTF? I’m done with this brewery. A $6+ drain pour.
