COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The best barley of all grows on the Magdalen Islands. We harvest the windblown, salt-kissed grains and use them to concoct a malt with a maritime accent that gives our beers their unique character. Come to our microbrewery À l'Abri de la Tempête, relax by the sea shore and dip your lips in a brew as fine as spindrift.

Bottle from a trip to Canada about a year and a half ago, and bottled in October of 2008, so I’m doubting this will be very good still. Pours a hazed gold with a thin to medium sized white head. Old cardboard and sweet oxidized malt. Big carbonation, sweet and grainy with a slightly menthol like flavor. Really just empty and at least not as much of a papery mess as I had anticipated. Finishes with a little bit of grain and some more vague hints that maybe once this was a decent beer. Just a lot of disappointment now.

Bouteille 341 ml. 4.8%. Couleur jaune paille. Mousse blanche fugasse. Nez de céréale et herbes. En bouche petit goût salin et de houblon. Notes de malt et finale un peu amère. Très bonne lager.

341 ml bottle from Broue Ha Ha, served cold in a tulip glass.

App.: Clear golden with a decent bright white head. Aroma: Grains, cereals, grassy hops, a bit of biscuit malt, a bit of tang and stank, somewhat fruity, borderline infection? Palate: Medium body, moderate carbonation. Flav.: Infection...odd tangy bitterness, some toast and bread crust, a touch fruity, bitter green herbs, tastes a little wild, grains, cereals, dusty, not great; dry with restrained bitterness and a fairly abrupt mineral finish.

Not worth $4. Not worth $2. Oh well.

UPDATED: APR 24, 2011 341ml bottle from Le Gobelet. pours a golden yellow with a white head that fades almost instantly. aroma is grain and citrus. bread dough and corn are the standout flavours. light bodied and bland. this is the craft version of coors light.

Thanks to T-Ray for this Christmas gift. pours a pale yellow. aromas of wheat, faint hops and do I really smell some salt water and seaweed? body and mouthfeel much heavier than I would have expected based on its color. taste is similar to macro-brewed lager, but finishes fairly strong with some distinct hops. Fairly boring due to the style, but still miles ahead of the stuff produced by the big guys.

Golden beer topped by a small whitish head. Slightly smoked nose, bit of floral/herbs/salted water smells. Sweet taste of grass, hops and salt hints. Too watery for me. Great idea of beer but not enough complexity.

Color is pale yellow with a small head. Light malt aroma. Fruitiness, salt meadows and marshes with funny herbal hops. Flavor is a clash between some sweetness and many species of grasses. Some humidity, salinity and bitter plants. Slight citrusy character. Thin body, strong carbonation, some carbonic bite. Plain aftertaste. Interesting stuff.

Pale straw golden pour. The aroma is quite fruity and estery with a touch of light diacetyl and more butterscotch. Slightly sweet with a bit of light fruitiness on the back. Not great.
