341ml bottle from Peluso.
Appearance : Deep amber with small brown creamy head.
Aroma : Explosive aroma with load of spruce needles. Very perfumy. Light sweet malty notes with very light chocolate.
Taste : Pine needles with light roasted notes. Light coffee with light resinous hops. Finish very piny with light roasted notes. Light coffee. Finish fairly dry and sharp.
Palate : Carbonation is fizzy but not too strong. Medium body which is nice for such a low abv beer. Finish is a bit sticky like one could expect with that much spruce flavor.
Overall : Wow very nice one. Awesome aroma, very expressive and quite complex. sure the pine takes over most of the profile but you can still detect some nuances in the hops and malts. Nicely drinkable and refreshing with a great dry finish. Very good. The best Annedd’Ale I’ve had so far...and by far. I wasn’t a big fan of this idea but these guy managed to pull this one off in a very elegant fashion.

A lovely, sticky and dense light beige head covers the dark brown pour. The aroma is both intense and inviting, like walking in a room with a resinous Chrismas tree, coniferous and perfumey. In mouth, the relative thinness and timid malt structure showcases the aromas even more. Spicy, herbal dryness has few comparables in the world of beer and all this in a remarkable harmony. I can see many people not enjoying this, but as a man who digs a straightforward spruce beer, I’m stunned by the simple pleasure this beer brings about, especially the treat of such a combination of drinkability and flavour intensity. A moderate bitterness closes the adventure, but again, leveled up by the coniferous spiciness. Lovely interpretation and I can certainly see myself dinking more than one pint in a streak if I ever find this on tap.

My Bottom Line :
Earthy, smoky undertones are awash in coniferous flavors, as a resinous hop and balsam fir combo conjure up a lengthy bitterness.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-Foam diminishes into the opaque darkest brown.
-This is very drinkable despite its intensity.
-Mouthfeel is rather dry, which increases the perception of intensity.
-All ingredients are harmonious.
-Citrusy cologne angles create complexity.
-This tastes like a moderate Black IPA with balsam fir. .
-Comfy big bubbles and lenient sugars help drinkability. .
-Malt flavors could be better defined. .

UPDATED: JAN 4, 2013 Bouteille 341 ml. 4,8%.

Pours a very dark brown, much like a dunkel; reddish highlights at the edges of the glass. Topped with a thin ring of off-white foam, specks of lacing here and there. Intoxicating, earthy aroma of pine sap and hops, fresh leafiness, touches of wood and mint...like walking into a densely wooded forest. This is a wild brew. Conifers are expertly represented here, like nothing I’ve tasted before...sharp and green pine-needle flavor gradually fades into notes of fresh wood, resin, and mint leaves. Finishes only slightly on the dry and bitter side and leaves behind plenty of aromatic character. Low carbonation lends a light body and smoothness to the brew and doesn’t occlude any of the flavors. I loved this and want another right away.

Meilleure froide.
