341 ml bottle from Broue Ha Ha, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.

App.: Deep brown-mahogany with a decent light mocha head. Aroma: Strong pine/evergreen, sort of eucalyptus-medicinal, the richer molasses and brown sugar malts are obscured, dang, that’s green and sharp. Palate: Medium body, rounded effervescence. Flav.: Again, strong pine/evergreen, tons of it, there are obvious molasses notes behind this, little else; wow, dry with some bitterness, strong astringency and a LOT of pine/evergreen.

Fail. Drainpour.

Bottle. Dark brown-amber pour with white head - this beer already surprises me by its appearance. The aroma is quite spicy, the fir really comes out kind of intensely but is accompanied by roast malt, chocolate, nutmeg and coriander from what I can tell. Taste is light, quite roasty, you can really taste the fir (sprucy, piney taste), it’s like tasting coniferous forest air, in a pleasant beverage. Palate is light-medium bodied, not very sweet, but not astringent either. Delightful.

Bouteille 341ml.

Bottle (341 ml). Brassin Octobre 2011. Dark reddish brown with a small fully lasting beige head and good lacing. Aroma is mostly of balsam fir along light caramel, light roasted malt and fruity notes. Taste is also of balsam fir, roasted/toasted malt, caramel, light fruits and light bitterness. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. This is without a doubt the best Annedd’ale I have tasted so far. Impressive balance. Drinkable. Very good!

Pours a dark brown with a moderate off white top. Aroma of malt, spice and spruce. Taste is earthy, spicey, a lot of malt with spruce tips.

341ml bottle from Peluso.
Appearance : Deep amber with small brown creamy head.
Aroma : Explosive aroma with load of spruce needles. Very perfumy. Light sweet malty notes with very light chocolate.
Taste : Pine needles with light roasted notes. Light coffee with light resinous hops. Finish very piny with light roasted notes. Light coffee. Finish fairly dry and sharp.
Palate : Carbonation is fizzy but not too strong. Medium body which is nice for such a low abv beer. Finish is a bit sticky like one could expect with that much spruce flavor.
Overall : Wow very nice one. Awesome aroma, very expressive and quite complex. sure the pine takes over most of the profile but you can still detect some nuances in the hops and malts. Nicely drinkable and refreshing with a great dry finish. Very good. The best Annedd’Ale I’ve had so far...and by far. I wasn’t a big fan of this idea but these guy managed to pull this one off in a very elegant fashion.

Bottle 341ml. Pours dark brown/red with very high creamy beige head. Good lacing. Aroma is of fir, malt. Taste is of fir, malt (roasted), bitterness. Palate: Ligth-medium body. Overall: Unusual stuff, but very good. Reminds of root beer (not the pop). Good Anned’ale (Quebec Style) (( Represent)).
