341 ml bottle from Broue Ha Ha, served cold in a tulip glass.

App.: Deep brown-black with a fair mocha head. Aroma: Roasted barley, dark chocolate and coffee, grape jelly, some coffee bean notes (reminds me of cooked green peppers...), some better coffee notes, a bit of alcohol, very deep and dark. Palate: Medium-full body with full, pillowy carbonation. Flav.: Lots of coffee – some nice notes and a bit of that green pepper thing, dark chocolate, more coffee, alcohol presence...less than expected for the abv, a little grape jelly; dry with a bit more alcohol and a long, coffee-driven, dark-roasted finish.

Not something I need much of.

Fiche technique Style: Impériale Stout Format: 341 ml Taux d?alcool : 13,6%

Pours black with a brownish head that lasts forever. Intense coffee aromas with hints of saltiness. Medium body, spicy, lots of roasted coffee notes, salty, peppery, finishing on a long mocha and alcoholic burn. Heavy stuff, quite tasty, but the alcohol levels is a bit distracting in the middle of all this complexity. Great effort.

Bottle: Poured dark black color stout with a medium size dark brown foamy head with OK retention and minor lacing. Aroma of dominant coffee notes with light floral touch with some deep roasted malt notes. Taste has a bunch of very extreme notes which may be due to the ice-freezing process with some clear coffee notes and some roasted malt. Body is lighter than expected with some medium carbonation and alcohol is not very apparent. Flavours are very cut and dry and somewhat hard to describe. Interesting beer but not sure I would feel need to revisit.

Bottle to tulip glass.
App.: Dark black, foamy brown head.
Aroma: Strong coffee, roasted flavor. Alcohol pop-up in a pleasant way. .
Taste: Nice bitterness from the coffee. A little bit of sugar and alcohol round things up.
Palate: Well wounded, high bitterness. Some astringnet in the end.
Very good, very dry Imperial Stout. Very enjoyable.

Bottle - 341ml. Pours an opaque black body with low carbonation and a good beige foamy head. Robust malty/hoppy aroma with coffeeish and roasted cereals hints. Alcohol is very well hidden. Its strong taste is dominated by roastiness. It also carries licorice and some plummy/vineous notes. Ends with a long, moderately warming, bitter/roasty finish. Interesting, although it lacks complexity.
