COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bottle, at home, drinking it as I’m writing. Golden-red color, small head. Aroma, light citrus, very herbal/floral. Taste is a mix pine spices, very smooth. Finish is a bit abrupt. What is this, an IPA, can’t be, an APA? In a way it is one of a kind PA. With Corne de Brume from À l’abri de la Tempête, another very good beer.

Bottle 341ml. Pours sligthly hazy golden with medium white head. Lots of lacing. Aroma is of pine, citrus, malt, fruits, flowers. Taste is of spices, flowers, bitterness, malt, sweetness. Palate: light-medium body. Overall: Bitter finish. Very good. For me, it’s an IPA. I don’t get the low ratings on that one. Bottle inconsistency? I won’t mind making sure of that...

A very complex beer that unfortunately, wasn’t at all to my liking. Pours an opaque amber with thin head and noticeable unfiltered solids. Notes of yeast, berries, wheat, hardwood and wild flowers. Very bitter (in a bad way) and overly sweet at the same time; just over the line in my opinion on all fronts. Might be for some, but not for me. I wouldn’t buy it again.

Pale golden color. Aroma is floral, with a light aftertaste of banana. Very slightly bitter.

Slightly hazy copper coloured body with a bright orange glow and a very thick and luscious spotty lace off-white head. Aroma of nice sour grapes, oak, hay, grass, yeast, wheat, flowers, lavender, chervil and a bit of sage. Medium-bodied; Assertive effervescence with a lot of hay, grass and floral flavours with a hint of sweetness on the backend. Aftertaste is relatively light with only a bit of malt noticeable, but still a lot of saisony notes with hints of white peppercorn and a little earth and remnants of oak. Overall, an interesting and rather complex beer that shows fairly well. I sampled this 341mL bottle purchased from Best Cellars in Arlington (Clarendon), Virginia [since closed] on 04-July-2011 for US$6.99 (A LOT) sampled at home in Washington on 10-May-2012.

I have to admit, I don’t like a beer that have a soapish - lavenderlike aroma and taste. And that one nailed it perfectly... To it’s credit, the lavender taste as a pine resin undertone to it that worths the try. Beside, I would have liked a little more carbonation and a sharper malt to match the floral aroma. But that’s just me...
