3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 JoeMcPhee (6959) - Toronto, ON, - APR 2, 2011
Pale amber pour with a tight white head. The aroma is really interesting. Floral and a little bit spicy. There is a touch of almost mintiness. Peppery with a kiss of interesting yeastiness. It’s not all that hoppy, but it’s unlike anything vie had and it’s quite good. A little bit of soft pine needle-like fruitiness. Really tasty.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jgb9348 (3488) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - MAY 10, 2012
Slightly hazy copper coloured body with a bright orange glow and a very thick and luscious spotty lace off-white head. Aroma of nice sour grapes, oak, hay, grass, yeast, wheat, flowers, lavender, chervil and a bit of sage. Medium-bodied; Assertive effervescence with a lot of hay, grass and floral flavours with a hint of sweetness on the backend. Aftertaste is relatively light with only a bit of malt noticeable, but still a lot of saisony notes with hints of white peppercorn and a little earth and remnants of oak. Overall, an interesting and rather complex beer that shows fairly well. I sampled this 341mL bottle purchased from Best Cellars in Arlington (Clarendon), Virginia [since closed] on 04-July-2011 for US$6.99 (A LOT) sampled at home in Washington on 10-May-2012.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Jouel (1) - - APR 19, 2012 does not count
I have to admit, I don’t like a beer that have a soapish - lavenderlike aroma and taste. And that one nailed it perfectly... To it’s credit, the lavender taste as a pine resin undertone to it that worths the try. Beside, I would have liked a little more carbonation and a sharper malt to match the floral aroma. But that’s just me...
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 jimmay (733) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 30, 2012
341 ml bottle. Pours slightly orange in colour, nice frothy white head. Leaves tonnes of lacing. Kind of a weird one. Very unusual herbal aroma, taste of hops and odd earthy, cooked vegetable like taste. One is enough.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Jool (64) - - MAR 1, 2012
Bouteille 341mL. Doree-orangee partiellement troublee par des particules en suspension. Nez franc de grains et de miel. Bouche puissante de grains avec beaucoup d’houblon a saveur d’herbe. Quelque peu savonneuse.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 cfrancis (1355) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 23, 2012
Pours a cloudy reddish orange with a thin white top and good lacing. Aroma is lots of base mats, a little honey and grain. Taste is rather spicy with lots of malt and a small bitterness aftertaste. Not the right balance for me.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 UM02 (207) - Quebec, CANADA - DEC 31, 2011
First impression is of an unpleasant aroma. The taste is a very cereal like maltiness that leaves the impression of a little bit of unfermented grain. The hop flavouring is very vegetable tasting. Very earthy tasting beer but tastes a bit off, too vegetable like.
