UPDATED: SEP 11, 2006 2005 draught at Mondial, 6/4/05. Hazy blonde beer, with a whispy white head, well retained with some lacing. Aroma of fresh herbs, mint, thyme, sage and some dusty and thick yeast. Light honeyish malt as well. Flavor is heathery and dry, not sour or cereal-like. A light vanilla and honey-almond malt in the background with aggressive spicing up front. A bit of acidity on the end, bits of floral notes and a medium body. Light and fluffy on the palate, not watery or thin. Refreshing and gruit-like, though a lighter malt it has. Elegantly simple, and a pleasant drink.

Sampled draught at the Mondial. Very very pale bubbly blonde with smallish head...sweet tarragon and vanilla, almonds impinge on a pleased nose...the tongue feels great gobs of sugar, and light tingly herbs amidst the milky-creamy liquid...light fruits (apples) appear towards the finish, the effervescent body carries the day.

On tap at Mondial de la Bière 2005 (Montréal). Pale gold body with light carbonation and an average white frothy head. Malty/hoppy aroma with light herbal and citrusy notes. Refreshing and well balanced taste with some grainy and herbal hints. Ends with a decent bittersweet finish.

The Lure:
Citrusy wheat character and grassy, sage-like herbs proliferating through. Something egg-y’s growing in here, but its sweetness is definitely intriguing.

The Festivities:
A rotund body for a wheat beer is emboldened by this sugary egg white component which mixes very ably with the feathery grass touch towards the end. Fruitiness is subdued, and sulphur fumes might have been present sporadically.

Transcendence:
The smell of a nearby continent. Familiar, yet instilling the need to investigate distant differences.
