gunnfryd (2834), Kristiansand, Norway Nov 2, 2006 Bottle. Red brown / Black colour with a beige head. Aroma is chocolate, vanilla. Flavour is sweet, vanilla, roasted, hop, malt, chocolate. Retorp (2156), Tampa, Florida, USA Nov 20, 2006 Courtesy of Madsberg. The body of this beer is a red tinted black and the head is quite attractive, it is a thumb thick and mostly lasting with a frothy, yet creamy mocha colored cappucino-like appearance.

Aroma is laden with vanilla, chocolate, molasses, mild licorice and dried dark fruits. It’s mildly stale smelling at first, but that fades leaving a pretty solid aroma.

The first sip is very cocoa/chocolate and vanilla accented. There are mild coffee notes and so it tastes a lot like a flavored coffee. The mouthfeel is nice though a touch thin in the finish. I could see this getting too sweet for some, but to me it is quite tasty and quite enjoyable. A very nice winter treat. There is a mild alcohol burn in the finish along with more intense vanilla/cocoa notes. I like! yngwie (3762), Kristiansand, Norway Oct 17, 2006 Bottled. Dark reddish brown with a beige head. Chocolate and mocha dominates the aroma and flavor, and there’s some alcohol as well. Full-bodied with a long chocolate finish. Really lovely. (060929) oh6gdx (6459), Vaasa, Finland Dec 12, 2005 Bottled. Pitch black colour, beige huge creamy head. Roasted malt and caramel in aroma. Strong malty roasted flavour with also candy coming in strongly. Dark chocolate and toffee also present. Aftertaste is smooth and roasted, and lasts for quite a while. sayravai (3224), Helsinki, Finland Dec 25, 2005 (Bottled) Very dark reddish brown color with a medium, quite tight and lasting head. Strong, sweet chocolate aroma - almost like Plevna Shemeikka, but maybe more balanced. Very distinctive, thick and sticky-sweet, creamy chocolate (or, in fact, the chocolate porridge we ate as dessert at school) flavor with mild hops and some minty hints. No signs of alcohol (surprise!), and no roastiness. Sweet, creamy, medium-bodied palate with very soft carbonation. A very straightforward-chocolatey brew, but quite pleasant and smooth as such. This brew really delivers what the label says - and the sweetness is not cloying. At least from a Duvel glass, at 10-14 C, this was quite pleasant.
