UPDATED: APR 29, 2004 Brown with some hints red. Nice white creamy head. Sweet, dull coffee flavour. Roasty, watery and chemical in flavour. Watery and carbonated finish.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 larsniclas (4359) - Billdal, SWEDEN - AUG 2, 2003
Red-brown with a frothy(?) head. Some faint prune aroma.
Thin and carbonated body. Not much flavour at all.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 rickgordon (3764) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - AUG 2, 2003
Red-brown color. Off-white head. Some prune aroma and caramel. Sweetish flavor with a burnt feel. Caramel notes also but a little watery and lame...
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 fiulijn (10383) - Como, ITALY - MAY 14, 2003
Brown amber color; poor head stability. Simple aroma. Caramel taste, quite sweet; no character, not enough malty, poor hop.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 mwesth (279) - Skovlunde, DENMARK - MAY 12, 2003
Bottled at the Danish Beerfestival 2003:
If this was a dunkel I would have rated it higher, to me it is like they took a good Imperial Stout and watered it down. Not a bad beer, but much too thin..
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 hembryggaren (45) - Örebro, SWEDEN - APR 22, 2003
This baltic porter dosn't smells or taste like a baltic porter. It's more like a brittish porter. Lame and light.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Ungstrup (23917) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - APR 1, 2003
A dark redbrown beer with a small fine head. The aroma is sweet, malty, and perfumated. The flavor is very sweet, only slightly smoked, and slightly bitter. It doesn't have the flavor nor the body of a porter in my universe. Pretty watery for a porter. A boring beer. It's not a bad beer - just not a porter - it would be OK if it was a Vienna style.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 madsberg (7522) - Søborg, DENMARK - MAR 30, 2003
UPDATED: APR 13, 2003 Bottled: Reddish brown coloured. Clear. Nice head. Very light roastyness in the aroma. Some cocoa/chocolate and sweets as well. Flavour is disappointing. Sweetish with notes of coffee and a somewhat waterish finish. Not much of the characteristics I love about this style is to be found in this beer, that is quite unharming, but drinkable though.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 MartinKubert (862) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - MAR 30, 2003
Nut brown colour, red tones. Hints of something roasted in the aroma. Sweet taste of malt and toffee. Though quite boring because of the very weak and short flavour. Weak palate. A disappointment compared to other Baltic porters.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Sigmund (3705) - Hafrsfjord, NORWAY - MAR 26, 2003
(500 ml bottle). Reddish brown colour, decent head. Aroma of caramel and leather. Not as sweet as I expected. Malty caramel flavour with just a slight roastiness, in a blind test I would surely classify this beer as a strong dunkel, not a Baltic porter. Relatively thin bodied, not nearly as good as their Jõuluporter (Christmas Porter). Disappointing for its style, if disregarding style you may find this as a decent and drinkable beer.
