This is my first beer from Estonia and the 21st Baltic Porter I will have rated.

Has a cocoa, roasted malt, caramel and raisin aroma, but the last whiff smells slightly like a skunky lager and brings the whole affair down a few notches. Pours a ruddy brown and stays that color in the glass, though it darkens slightly. The head is quite pretty-a tumb thick, fluffy tan in appearance, but it fades quickly. Fore tastes at first like a cheap Euro Lager, but then some raisin and molasses work their way in. Finish is light and thin, but has a kind of dry cocoa tinged flavor and feel. Very lightly chocolate accented through the middle as it warms. Worth a try to see how old school Baltic Porter is made and definitely up my alley in the basic flavor components, but lacks a little of the thickness and kick I have grown accustomed to from american attempts at the style. Therefore from a purely hedonitic standpoint it wouldn’t be at the top of my "have another" list, but definitely something to try.
TET (142), Finland Oct 17, 2008 Dark-brown beer with medium smooth beige head. Aroma is nice and balanced: balanced roasted, slightly sour and even alcohol may be found. Flavour is balanced and malty and it differs from the aroma: flavour is more sweet and not so roasted than aroma. Quite easy and light to drink but still nice and oily. A.Le Coq Porter is full of surprises: aroma and flavous differs from each others: easy to drink but still bootilicious and overally balanced and high-quality beer. mikkopen (138), Oulu, Finland Sep 29, 2008 500 ml bottle. Dark reddish brown colour, medium-sized dense white head. Sweet roasted malty aroma. Light, roasted and sweet flavour. Unimpressive. wunderbier (1261), Finland Sep 19, 2008 Updated: Oct 1, 2008Clear mahogany hue below a thick and creamy off-white head. Smoky nose with teases of cherries and coffee. Restrained toast and cookie flavors at first, evolving into a roasty sensation with light grape acidity and finishing with light coffee bitterness into a chocolate aftertaste. Oily in the mouth with prickling carbonation and a medium weight.

What’s there is good, but it’s mostly sharp smoke and roast with little intensity otherwise.

50 cl bottle, best before 04 April 2009.

Medium sized, creamy, light tan head floats on a clear, matte, medium brown body. The aroma is surprisingly light all the way around, primarily focusing on cherries, cocoa powder, watered down instant coffee an peanuts. In the background, something like rubbing alcohol on cotton balls. Light to moderately sweet tasting of light caramel and watered down coffee. No acidity of any sort to be found. Finishes kind of woody, water and then limps away. Light instant coffee aftertaste. Medium-light bodied with a watery texture and very average carbonation. Flat and dull; nothing offensive, but no reward for consumption. 50cl bottle, bbe 21.07.08.
KimJohansen (4299), Copenhagen V, Denmark Sep 4, 2008 Clear dark amber with medium off white head. Sweet malty aroma with caramel notes. Sweet malty flavour with caramel and breadish notes. MitchWayne (120), Kokkola, Finland Aug 21, 2008 Hard to really fuck up a baltic porter for me and this is pretty decent. It has the roasted malty aroma, it is a bit sweet and has a dry end. Body could be a bit thicker and so on but I like it.
