3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 LookMomNoHands (575) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - MAY 12, 2012
Sample from bottle, CBF 2012. Dark brown colour with a small, light tanned head. Aroma with grains, malts and lots of caramel, hints of dried, dark fruits. Taste is dry and malty, with a good amount of caramel. Medium body, creamy texture - however a bit thin. Short roasted and sweet finish. Average porter, sweet for a Baltic.
1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 8, 2012
Brown, standard 0.5 litre bottle, bought for 3 Euro’s at a trade fair in Berlin (Green Week 2007), best before 2nd Sept 2007, drank 29th Jan 2007, so plenty of life left.
Looks a dark, deep mahongany red, with a little brown head which strinks very fast.
Chocolate malts, but no great nose to it, even as the beer warms.
Not a rich porter type taste at all, very ordinary in my opinion.
Watery for a Porter, no hint of the 6.5% claimed on the bottle, the maltyness does stay for a while, with coffee coming through, but still weak for me.
If I could get my money back I would, not impressed at all.

Aroma is rather light with some roasted malt, hints of grain and butter. Flavour is roasted with some coffee, metal and chocolate. Feels a bit like dunkel or schwartzbier. Dry finish. Nice, but should have more character and less metal.
