Dark brown colour. Bubbly light brown head. Lots of chocolate in aroma, with tad caramel and bit mackerel. Peppery chocolatey flavour backbone with long(chocolatey) finish. Medium bodied. Low, yet noticable bitterness. estpiwo (264), Estonia Aug 29, 2007 Dark color, at first fruity, after feel caramel and hops. Little bitter finish Tranquillity (1081), Espoo, Finland Jan 5, 2007 Draught @ some pub, Tallinn. Dark chocolate, a bit faint, aroma. Wonderful burned taste with mocca. Black colour, white head. sayravai (3224), Helsinki, Finland Feb 18, 2007 (Bottled) Clear, very dark reddish brown color with a very small, beige head. Aroma of slightly sweet, roasted malt with some vegetably-irony-sewery hints (or is it chocolate?:). Initially very irony flavor with roasted, slightly burned malt, and lots of mocha. Silky-smooth, medium-bodied palate with low carbonation - almost like from a nitro can. Once you get used to the iron, this is actually quite pleasant and very smooth stout. Not too sweet, either, and certainly better than I expected. TBone (5171), Pori, Finland Jul 28, 2007 Bottled (BB 08/2007)
Top-fermented beers from Estonia are few ... Good classic Baltic porter outlook: very dark ruby-brown color, good expresso head. Dark toasted malts and alcohol in the nose. Fizzy mouthfeel - a bit too carbonated. Medium to full bodied. Taste is actually quite similar to Estonian Baltic porters or "tume"-beers, this has fuller body than most of them although. Caramelly sweetish, burned sugar flavor, alcohol picks up in the aftertaste, lacks roasty flavors usually present in the stout. I like drinking dark Estonian beers, this one too, but this is not very good example of top-fermented stout - without knowing I could guess this being Baltic porter.
