COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Who has once tasted Tõmmu Hiid, will never forget its taste. There is no other dark beer in Estonia that has such a mild taste. It is so light that you can drink it until the early morning hours. This is the beer that is present at all good parties and it will always feature in memories that are passed on from father to son.

Bottled. Thanks Gnoff. Ruby brown colour. Pale yellow head. Sticky sweet aroma with hints of almonds, pretty much like a dunkler bock. Light mouthfeel at first, pleasant chocolatey sweetness is sensed after. Low bitterness, if any at all.

(Bottle. Thanks to SaintMatty) Clear reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty nose with notes of toasty malt, dark bread, crisp-bread, hints of raisin and brown sugar. Malty, fruity taste with dark bread, caramel, crisp-bread, prunes and a touch of brown sugar. Slightly bitter-sweet finish. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness and fairly low bitterness. Quite neutral and hardly exciting, but decently drinkable.

Very deep red color with light brown head. Fine lager beer that tastes good without the great taste surprises

suurjuust (350) - Tartu, ESTONIA - SEP 24, 2011
Deep coppery brown, white head. Aromas of vegetables, burnt sugar, malts. The mouthfeel is velvety smooth, as is the taste - mild sweetness with raisins, malt and more burned sugar. The finish is a bit too watery. A decent beer.

Deep amber pour with a tight white head. The aroma is lovely. Softly sweet with a bit of light toffee sweetness and a touch of sweet sugar. Moderately sweet with a little bit of soft toasted malt. It’s a decent Vienna, but it’s a little bland.

Bottled, from Tallinn. Clear dark brown, coarse head. Slight coffee aroma. Light-medium bodied with clean, hard mouthfeel. Slightly caramelly, but really rock hard and barren malt character. Tinny finish. Aggressive.

Bottle, Karja Kelder, Tallinn. Chestnut, half moon skim. Raisin, rust and raw cabbage aroma. Uninteresting, chilled-to-death streak of rust, watery liquorice and digestive biscuits. Need something more substantial when it’s -28c outside.

Bottle. Mahogany coloured body with a good head and lacing. The aroma is yeasty and raw. The taste is very sour and not as roasted as it used to be. I have been drinking this beer for since it came out because I used to like the roasted taste of this brew. For the last two or three times I have bought it, the taste has become strangely sour and watery. I don’t know why they had to screw this up because it used to taste really good. Or have I just been spoiled by the good imports I have been tasting lately?
