COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Klosterbryg er brygget på pilsnermalt, hvedemalt og karamelmalt. Det er krydret med tre forskellige typer af aromahumle, som matcher maltene. Dette er en øl med 6% alkohol, som er i stil med India Pale Ale.

23.08.2014, 0,6l bottle shared with friends @ home:
Small slightly bubbly shortlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet, nuts, grain, caramel malts, hay, almonds, boiled vegetables, cellar, cereal, weeds. Taste is slightly dry mineraly, hay, weeds, harsh grain, nuts, flowers, yeast, paper, boiled vegetables, minerals, caramel. Medium bitterness, harsh watery mouthfeel. Boring.

Bottle. Pours a deep, dark-hued clear golden body with a medium creamy white head. Nose is red berries, grains, mild caramel, white sugar and hints of red fruits and sweet wine gum. Taste is cereals, maize, pale malts, straw and hints of red fruits and wine gum. Light body, a bit watery perhaps, with medium carbonation. Decent and drinkable, but far from exciting. And "Klosterbrygg" ("monestary brew") makes litte sense to me; this is very far from anything Belgian, at least.

Cunningham (4439) - Halden, NORWAY - DEC 3, 2013
Appearance: Clear deep golden color with a white head. Ok lacing.
Aroma: Caramel malty, mild fruity and mild hoppy.
Palate: Medium + body. Tad sweet and a mild bitterness. Average carbonation. Oily texture.
Taste: Caramel malty, mild hoppy. Some fruity notes and some alcohol coming up.
Overall impression: Disappointing stuff. Especially when they call it Klosterbryg. Not much Monastery stuff this. Not much hopps either.
Personal stats: Bottle from local grocery store in Aarhus, Denmark.

Bottle from Brugsen, Hammel. Clear golden colour with a white head. Little aroma of malt and hops. Taste the same and nothing else. Sweet finish. This is definitely not an IPA beer.

Small off-white fizzy head that was quickly goon. Spare lacework. Light cloudy golden color. Aroma was very fruit with notes of peach and orange. Light malty feel with some caramel and maybe a hint of hops. Medium bodied with a light dry texture and an average carbonation.

JanLaursen (3064) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - AUG 11, 2013
Bottle, 60 cl, at Skanderborg Festival. Golden with a small white head. Yet another malty nosed brew from Aarhus Bryghus. Grainy, nutty flavour, medium sweet, with the usual dusty, spicy herbal hopnotes. Appears as a lager. Strangely named as an abbey-brew and wven more strangely describes on label as IPA-like. Boring.

Rune (8006) - Tromsø, NORWAY - JUN 2, 2013
Bottle, shared at the Ratebeer meetingpoint, Ølfestival København 2013. Naked surface to a clear, dark golden coloured body. Modest aroma of mid-sweet malts. Grain malty taste added by lemony hops. Dry and mild to the ending. Mainstream lager, far below par for an ipa (Copenhagen, 23.05.2013).

Aromahops english style (Fuggles and Goldings I’m sure), sweet and smooth but with that pleasant bitterness by the use of cane sugar. The smell is great, and reminds med of sweet and ripe oranges. It is by any means a good brew, and somewhat complex. But it must be served in a smaller mug or a shaker, and at about 10°C to fully please you. Serve it in too big a glass or too cold could ruin this beer totally, and leave you with a flat and dull experience. Quite easy to drink if served the right way, great aroma. Once again the beer style is wrongly labeled here at Ratebeer, and this is more of a fusion between Ale and Bitter/Premium Lager (definitely not a pale lager by any standards).
