   AROMA 4/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 5/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 10/20
tfredvik (369) - Oslo, NORWAY - AUG 12, 2011
Clear, sparkling, medium brown body with a large, off-white head that reduces to a thin layer rather quickly, fair lacing. The aroma suffered due to completely wrong serving temperature: more or less straight out of the refrigerator. Therefore the aroma was very weak and boring, I could pick up some faint caramel, but the Aass trademark, the metallic notes, were just as present. As the beer warmed up the aromas and flavours came more into play, and a nice style typical caramel touch was obvious. The metallic notes were not present in the flavours. Medium to light sweet taste with a light plus bitterness. Soft carbonation and rather light body. All in all very similar to the Hansa bayer, but with more bitterness and, at least if served too cold, a fainter aroma. Still, decent stuff.
[50 cl can, from ICA Hasle, Oslo]

Gr0ve (1875) - Oslo, NORWAY - FEB 17, 2007
500 ml can. Dark brown colour with a reddish brown hue. Clear. Tall fluffy light beige head. Crisp citrusy münchenermalt aroma. Medium-bodied. Light grainy flavours. Some hop bitterness with a drying hop sensation. Surprisingly thin. I remember this beer being much sweeter, so things seems to have changed. No roasted character at all. Distant caramel, but the lack of sweetness hides that well. Would be hard to identify this as a dark beer in a blind test.

Kestral (494) - Årnes, NORWAY - AUG 16, 2009
Can. Pours dark orange, 2cm offwhite head. Fairly sweet aroma, some toasted notes, caramel, but mostly metallic notes. Flavour is the same, with a too harsh metallic hop finish. A bit watery, light body, fizzy carb.

Little bottle. Dark amber color. Aroma is sweet malty. Flavor is malty, but some hoppy tones I can feel. More, more better than Aass fatöl.

Koelschtrinker (7034) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - JUN 3, 2011
Laff malziger Antrunk, trocken. Das Röstmalz wirkt im Mittelteil bitterer und wird noch trockener, dazu dezent säuerlich. Zum Abgang wird es zitrusartig, die Intensität ist nun immerhin annehmbar. Anspruchsloses Halbdunkel. 8/7/7/5/6/6
