A nice not-so-pale amber colour, with a agressive , off-white head. Aroma; Some malt caracter with some toast, good fruityness and alittle caramel in the back aswell. Flavours; Very fruity, red berries, the toast aroma in the mouth. It´s alittle sweet, but refreshing and good, finishing with some yeastnotes (grass/herbs?). Not a very big body. Summary; The aroma/flavour profile is really good, but I wish it had a bigger body to support it!

Served ice cold (wtf) at some restaurant at cc vest, oslo. Waiter said it was not the "gourmet series can" but it later showed to be just that. Looked like 50/50 cola/water and tasted about the same, due to the temperature. Ice cubes and a straw were the only things missing. After about 30 minutes the temperature was a bit better and the taste started to show, it was kind of alright, but at that time the beer was all flat and we had finished our meal and had to leave.

Can, 4.7%. Very weak caramelly aroma. Clear dark amber colour. Small stable frothy tan head. The flavour is OK refreshing. Has a little butter, but more importantly some refreshing hop, mostly grassy.

UPDATED: JUL 12, 2010 Always a bit funny to see the ratebeer categorizations compared to the marketing of beers: I BET Aass had absolutely NO clue they were brewing a "Scottish Ale", just as Grans probably were equally unaware they made a "Vienna" as their flagship Christmas beer... :-) Pours a (pretty non-pale...) amber body with a thin, off-white head. Smell is raspberries and dark malts. Taste is surprisingly fruity, with notes of raspberry, vanilla, grass and sweet malts. Earthy hints. Rather nice, actually, if it wasn’t for the slight metallic notes appearing throughout the aftertaste. Light-bodied and very drinkable, Gourmet Pale Ale just barely keeps head above "watery". Smooth, relatively complex and well-blended; this is really a positive surprise for an ale of such a low ABV. Props to Aass for this one, they should definitely develop a higher ABV for sale at Vinmonopolet - it could be really good. In my humble opinion, this one is seriously underrated.
