Skinnyviking (2947), Copenhagen, Denmark Jun 6, 2008 Bottle. High creamy off-white lasting head. Clear dark brown body. Aroma of roasted mal cinamon and raisins plus a bit of caramel. Sweet caramel flavor with more acidity than expected. Relatively high carbonation and a long sweet aftertaste. Rune (1838), Tromsø, Norway Nov 19, 2007 330ml bottle, top-fermented beer. Very nice in its first appearance after the pour; Deep, golden-brown body topped by a satisfying, off-white head blanketing the glass. Dry wheaty to the nose mixed with a spicy flash. The flavour is made of wheat, dry and sweet fruits, mostly apples, with some tartness beneath. Short tail and quite watered palate (Oslo, 14.11.2007). tarjei (1360), Bryne, Norway Nov 10, 2007 33 cl bottle. Brown color, big off-white/beige head. Sweet; caramell, fruit. Wheat malt, a bit acidic. Fine aftertaste with fruit and caramell. Gr0ve (1124), Oslo, Norway Oct 31, 2007 330 ml bottle. Dark copper colour. Crystal clear. Throws a tall off-white head that clings to the glass. Nutty wheat aroma. Hints of yeast, which is top-fermenting according to the label. Smooth texture and quite mellow. Low carbonation level. Nutty and chocolatey flavours balanced by a wheaty character. Nicely rounded. Slightly sweet malts. There is a light smokey and bacon flavour. I’m not really a fan of dark wheat beers like this one, but it is quite unique on the Norwegian market. Little hops to be found, but they are definitely there somewhere in the background. Finishes slightly dry. MoritzF (4010), Ruhrpott, Germany Sep 25, 2007 (30cl bottle, courtesy of Papsoe) Clear, amber colour with a medium-sized, lacing beige foam. Sweet and acidic, almost vinous nose with notes of wheat-malt and red berries. Sweet and moderately sour flavour, light bodied with a medium carbonation. Toast-malty, slightly wheaty taste with fruity accents; toasty, slightly sour-fruity finish with unpleasant notes of metal.
