COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sweet, caramel aroma. Clean, crisp taste, and an almost dry aftertaste. Interesting and complex. Very flavorful with strong malt presence.

Let’s start by saying this bottle is probably a few years old. I wonder if it is still made. Poured a murky brown color. Aroma of lightly skunked malt at the start. As the beer warmed this became replaced by creamy chocolate drink (almost like yahoo), very light spice, and aged malt. Flavor is thin and old like a watered down cold hot cocoa. There is a touch of spice on the finish. This beer was definitely on its last legs.

Bottled. This one didn’t really have anything going for it. Malt was overpowered any flavot it had.

Dark red/brown color with a small off white head. Aroma of malt, caramel and dried fruit. Flavor of toasted malts, caramel and cherries.

Another for Christmas in August. Surprisingly complex and good. Nice ruby color. Very interesting.

Aroma is malty and sweet, with cherries, caramel, oak, dry with a slightly carbonated hint. Ruby red color with a nice off white head that slowly settles, leaving behind some very nice lacing. Flavor has caramel and malts, slightly sweet, and little less exciting than I was lead to expect from the aroma. Still a nice brew.

A dark crimson color, and a tiny, swiftly gone head are the visual hallmarks of this Norwegian holiday lager. Aroma is dark and hearty, but gives off no particular associations. I'll stretch out my nostrils and give it a try...toasty, nutty, dark fruits, maybe, and a subtle whiff of chocolate? Good flavor, great palate, medium body, and long finish. Clean, smooth, and a little caramely toward the end. I'm never very moved by this style, and this version didn't make a convert out of me. Nice try, though.

A friend of mine had a few selections of this beer and generously shared a couple with me. I thought it was an odd combination of a belgian style ale and a bottle of liquified dried fruit (well then it wouldn't be dried fruit anymore would it) maybe reconstituted dried fruit. At any rate, it wasn't too bad, I think it was an old bottle that doesn't age well... poured nicely with a large pink head and a ruby colored body, decent flavor of oak and malts. Hmm, interesting.

Ruby red pour with big pink head. Malty and sweet dried fruit tastes throughout. Could use a bit more hops though.

Hmm, thought this would be more of a Jubel or Celebration style. This is a Belgian?!? Pours a dark translucent brown with some head and just a bit of lacing. Smells, well, skunky, to be honest. Damn if they didn't put this into a green bottle. While I realize that they don't get much sunlight in Norway, the rest of the world does. Tastes not as skunky, thankfully, but still not great. Think of a fruity Newcastle Brown; yeah, that's it, with a little more mouthfeel and fruity flavors. Mouthfeels is nothing special for this style. Drinkability is okay, but again nothing special. Hmph. I was looking forward to this beer, too.
