2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Hmm, thought this would be more of a Jubel or Celebration style. This is a Belgian?!?
Pours a dark translucent brown with some head and just a bit of lacing.
Smells, well, skunky, to be honest. Damn if they didn't put this into a green bottle. While I realize that they don't get much sunlight in Norway, the rest of the world does.
Tastes not as skunky, thankfully, but still not great. Think of a fruity Newcastle Brown; yeah, that's it, with a little more mouthfeel and fruity flavors.
Mouthfeels is nothing special for this style. Drinkability is okay, but again nothing special.
Hmph. I was looking forward to this beer, too.

Thanks to akevitt for sharing. Pours a clear brown body with red hue and off-white head. Head is foamy, but laces nicely. Spicy aroma with a very bock-like body. Finishes clean.

1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Not the best christmas beer I know. A tiny hint of caramel, the rest isnt christmassy at all, no spices or malty notes. Quite refreshing, and not thin at all.

330ml with pinnekjĝtt@Mother-in-laws, 28.Dec.2012
Red-brown body with tiny head. Sweet prunes, caramel, dates nose. Sweet, but balanced. A bit better in itself than Mack Juleĝl, but Mack was better with pinnekjĝtt.

Deep brown color with a ring around the collar looking dirty white head. Rather sour milk-like aroma. Quite sweet with a very restrained hop presence.

weak caramel, malt wort and a hint of spices in the aroma. Amber with a off white head. Medium sweet and light bitterness. Light body with a lively carbonation. Overall totally OK, but not something to remember.

Brewed in two versions for the norwegian market. One at 4,5% and one at 6,5%. Both comes in slightly different verions each year. Aass Juleĝl is one of the better norwegian Juleĝl. But only the stronges version is drinkable. The 4,5% version is the 6,5 plus water. A juleĝl should be on the sweet side, with some spice character. One excellent german alternative: Rostock Hansebrau.
