(Bottle 33 cl) Pours a handsome, clear, orangey brown with an off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt. Light body dominated by the roasted malt accents. Short, dry finish. Simply too light for a christmas beer. 151206
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 berlinoise2go (480) - NORWAY - NOV 28, 2010
Bottle from Ica, Vikersund. Clear, reddish brown colour. Finger-thick offwhite head that reduces quickly. Slightly sweet malty aroma quite well balanced with soft hop bitterness. Finishes too sour. Very average brew that failed to induce xmas emotions.
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 tfredvik (630) - Oslo, NORWAY - NOV 22, 2011
Another christmas beer with the standard medium brown body and short-lived off-white head. Virtually no lacing. Very very sweet malty aroma with fruity notes. Brown sugar. Moderate sweet taste and a light bitterness in the finish. Malty flavours with dark fruits. Quite ok, but far too watery.
[33 cl bottle, from Kiwi Valle, Oslo]
2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Rune (6125) - Tromsø, NORWAY - MAR 21, 2007
The motto "xmas lasts till Easter" came to my mind when I picked up the 330ml bottle at Fenaknoken in Oslo (BB:14.07.07). Mahogany coloured body, off-white head and hints of laceworks. Aroma has got some roasted notes. Vague, dark malty flavour added a light touch of caramel sweetness. Rather thin mouthfeel. Didn’t make me think of Yuletide (17.03.2007).
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 visionthing (1667) - Oslo, NORWAY - NOV 24, 2011
Can. Amber with a small head that disappears. Sweet fruit, metal and rather thin. A bit strange, but drinkable.
2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 HansJM (358) - NORWAY - DEC 31, 2000
Brewed in two versions for the norwegian market. One at 4,5% and one at 6,5%. Both comes in slightly different verions each year. Aass Juleøl is one of the better norwegian ’Juleøl’. But only the stronges version is drinkable. The 4,5% version is the 6,5 plus water. A ’juleøl’ should be on the sweet side, with some spice character. One excellent german alternative: Rostock Hansebrau.

Very soft soapy nose with a touch of crystal malt. Slightly spice and very soft on the palate that dissipates at the midpoint. Thin and oxidized finish.

Bottle. 4.7 abv. Creamy off-white excellent mostly lasting head. Brown colour. Almost no aroma. Very soapy ugly flavor. Alas average finish. Watery palate. Really a bad beer.
