4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 pobenohne (504) - Northern Liberties, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 10, 2005
Bottle. Thanks again to Steve for digging this up in Chestnut Hill. Another beat up case and beat up bottle, but the beer survived unscathed. A Vienna? To me, much more of a belgian strong ale, reminisenct of Oerbier: malty, boozy, just a hint of spice. 6.2%? burns more like 8+%
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 JensenTaster (1718) - DENMARK - DEC 26, 2004
(on bottle, thanx Sigmund) Very plesant aroma of roasted malts and sweetness, as staright from the sack of grains. Very full. Extremly smooth mouth witnhcainsugar, melasses and wood, maybe burnt wood. Allmost no bitternes in the finish, witch has a hint of almonds, great beer. Best norweigan juleĝl for me so far.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 mutant (854) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - JAN 14, 2004
Attractive translucent brown with a big foamy head. Robust malt and raisin aroma. Heavily accented toward malt with some spicy notes. Not as strong in flavour as the aroma. Slightly thin but a very warming finish. Quite a good aass, thanks Slikwily.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 hotstuff (3249) - Indiana, USA - JAN 3, 2004
A very easy and drinkable beer. This beer formed an average sized ivory head that was creamy with fine-medium sized bubbles that quickly dissipated. The body was opaque and uncarbonated with a reddish-brown hue. The nose was caramel and spices with a sweet, spicy, caramel, notes of alcohol and a roasty flavor. The texture was creamy, smooth, and a bit watery and thin in my opinion. This was a light bodied beer with sparse lacing on the sides of my glass.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 thedm (4124) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - JAN 3, 2004
This brew poured a large head of fine to large sized off-white colored mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a softly carbonated transparent brown colored body and a fair lace. The aroma is a nice medium strength caramel matly one. The mouthfeel is thick chewey and smooth from start to finish with no bite and a mild raisin aftertaste. The flavor is malty with caramel and a mild vinuous note. I rather enjoyed drinking this brew as it went down oh so smoothly and it had enough character to make it worthwhile.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Mangili (10) - Providence, Rhode Island, USA - DEC 23, 2002
As Christmas beer goes, this is one of the best in the world. Only bested by the belgiums.
( side note: I prefer the old label)
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 erway (1004) - Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA - DEC 21, 2002
As far as Vienna Lagers go this is very nice. Somewhat roasty with almost no hop prescence. Warming, especially once the beer itself warmed. Serve no lower than 55 F.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 omhper (15956) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAR 6, 2002
Nut brown. Toffee aroma. Big, malty body, sweet, slightly vinuous. I like their Bock even better.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Sigmund (3705) - Hafrsfjord, NORWAY - MAR 5, 2002
UPDATED: NOV 9, 2011 Rerate: 330 ml bottle 2011, Cardinal Pub & Bar, ABV 6.5%. Chestnut to mahogany coloured beer, moderate cream-coloured head. Very malty and pleasant aroma with plenty of caramel, mild roasty and spicy notes. The flavour has also plenty of caramel, sweet but not too much, moderate roasty, spicy and hoppy finish.
