The original strong version of Aass Christmas beer. In Norway sold only in Vinmonopolet stores. Well rounded aromatic flavour with hints of spices and caramel. Rated on top (or as runner-up) year after year in Norwegian Christmas beer ratings.

Nice light amber color with a fine thick off white head. Beautiful caramel nose with light spices in the background. Rich in the mouth with a carmel, charcoal and cream flavor profile. Quite rich but a nice treat.

Bottle at home. Golden red amber colour. Very frothy head that diminish pretty fast. Light aromas of dried fruits and some leather. Leather very dominant in the mouth. Hints of alcohol and dried fruits. Thin mouthfeel, a little bit slick. Light bitterness. A decent christmas beer, but not the best at this strenght among the norwegian ones. Too weak at taste along with the christmas food.

Medium brown body with a light brown head that is… eh… head? Where did you go? It’s safe to characterise this foamy thing as "very short-lived". Heavy malty aroma: caramel, dark fruits and spices, and a hint of hops. Medium sweet taste with a light bitter finish. Very malty flavours, caramel, brown sugar, malt extract and some alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, medium to soft carbonation. A decent beer, but why on earth has this beer such a high rating?
[33 cl bottle, from Vinmonopolet Alna, Oslo]

Looks dark amber with a off-white head. Aroma with notes of malt, caramel and bread. Taste is medium sweet and some bitterness. Medium body, texture is rather thin, quite soft carbonation

Palme (1200) - Bergen, NORWAY - NOV 22, 2011
0.33l bottle. This is a clear deep ruby/brown beer with a quickly fading and sidesticking khaki head. The aroma is disturbingly mild, but has some tones of dark malts, hops and roasted caramel. It’s average carbonated with a thin oily to watery mouthfeel. Light burned rubber tones in the flavor aside with dark malts and watery roasted caramel. This was actually somewhat of a disappointment.

Pours an offwhite head with a dark amber color body. The head disappears relatively quickly. Aroma of malt, spice and biscuit. Thin palate with a metallic mouthfeel. Ok beer but not overly impressed. I miss some roastyness and caramel malt aroma sice this is a "juleøl".

UPDATED: JAN 20, 2012 bottle from the swedish systembolaget (norwegian beers at half the price as in norway) - deep amber body with a light beige head - lovely caramel nose - dark malt, caramel and i bit fruity flavour - one of the best of the traditional bottom fermented christmas beers

Light brown, one inch, creamy head on a clear, deep dark orange body. Leather, dried figs and dates on the nose, and some wood. Sweet, alcoholic and bitter. Full body. Heavy carbonation. Light syrupy.
