3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
2011 vintage bottle enjoyed at home
Pours brown, dark brown in glass, big beige head. Smells of milk chocolate, some roasted malts and dried fruits. Medium sweet, quite dry for an ale, some nuts and raisins, also caramel. Moderate bitter, some malt bitterness. A quite ok beer from Aass, as a Yule seasonal i guess it won’t offense many norwegian beer drinkers, but not shock them either. Quite average

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark brown body with a shade of red, small disappearing beige head.
Dark fruits and burned malt dominates both the aroma and taste, while the taste also brings hints of cinnamon and alcohol.
A decent christmas beer from Aass.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep reddish colour with a tan head. Rich malty and a fine fruity aroma. Rich malty flavour, but also a fine fruityness and some spices. Probably by far the best of the "old traditional" norwegian christmas beers. A very well hidden alcohol as well. Enjoy.

1.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle from Rune. Dark brown colour, not much head. Looks like cola. Sickly sweet malty aroma. Strong sweet candy malt flavour. Unbalanced. Not my sort of beer.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A wonderful surprise from Aass. Brown color, full body, caramel sweetness with some bitterness and a hint of sour. By far the best Norwegian christmas beer I tasted in 2011, and hopefully a sign that the large breweries are finally taking up the challenge from the micro brewers.
