CEZ (399) - Milano, ITALY - SEP 14, 2006
Dark amber body, crowned by a pillowy head. Great balance in this brew which starts with sweeter than more tripels do, with caramel and summer fruits notes, before a robust hoppy peppery backbround emerges. FInish is long and rather dry. Smooth, full body, excellent drinkability.

[Bottled RBESG 2006] Golden colour. Bit weird aroma from yellow peas, and a bit sweet. Peas is good stuff! Very, clean and smooth, light fruity mouthfeel with a dash of wheat.

[Bottle from RBESG] Big yeasty aroma, rotten bananas, sweet, peppery, dry. Tripels just do not bake my cake.

A nice tripel, quite light in flavor, but nice full mohagony color. Palate was a bit thin and not terribly interesting.

(Bottle at Delirium Cafe in Gothenburg) A bit shady orange color, white head. Typical Belgian ale scnet with a wheat beer twist. Boring taste, a bit sweet. Low bitterness.

Bottle from <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/Places/ShowPla target=blank>St. Veronus in Peterborough. Golden-orange in colour, thin dissipating white head, some lace. The aroma was sugary sweet, orange peels, hoppy and yeasty. The flavour was of orange zest, lemons, herbal hops, candy, yeast. Bitter dry mouthfeel, medium/light body, high carbonation. Finishes long, lots of orange citrus, bitter.

UPDATED: JUN 30, 2009 Clear golden body with a medium white head. Aroma of yeast, bread and corn. Taste is very corn-syrup with some apple-like fruitiness. Medium body and long pleasant corn-syrup finish. Like a very very very good Leffe Blond. I usually don’t like corn syrup flavours in my beer but for this one it worked quite well. I seem to remember my Bonne Esperance with more hop character and less corn-syrup taste. The bottle I’m rating is almost a year old, it was my last bottle and I don’t have access to a fresh one in montreal, so take my comments with a grain of salt... and three Belgian Strong Ales. 33cl Bottle.

schuimkroaat (423) - Leuven, BELGIUM - OCT 23, 2005
33 cl bottle, bbe Dec 2006. Dark amber with a haze, quite still, white frothy head, average in size. Little lacing. Very hoppy aroma, a bit fishy with touches of citrus and tea leaves. Round and fresh, fruity (apple) taste with subtle but lasting hops in the background, peardrops, earthy tones and alcoholic afterburn on the palate, which otherwise gives a soapy feeling.
