Small off-white head over clear orange-golden beer. Spicy nose, indistinct. Meaty, and faintly lactic, but in all verging towards the neutral. Again spicy-meaty streaks upon indifferent, faintly sweetish pale malts, with traces of oxydation. Medium to well-carbonated, light body. Uninteresting on all levels. Merci à Stef!

Six pack of 250ml bottles from a U supermarket in Marseille. Very cheap. This is the standard supermarket "Abbaye" beer - a pale beer ("blonde") of reasonable strength - usually between 6 and 7%, and with some lactic acid added to give a slight tart or sour milk flavour which attempts to approximate the flavour of a hot fermentation with an active yeast; they may also (or instead) have a spice, such as coriander. They are generally drinkable beers. This is also drinkable - soon gone, and you find yourself reaching for another one. They are not impressive or memorable, though are easy drinking, and very cheap. Some bread notes, and a whiff of vinegar, add to the interest - though this example is a little more lager like than the average.
